I went to Argentina in 2012 and stayed in hostels the whole time. Two people got stabbed when they were out walking; one in BA and the other in Salta. I had a maid go through the unlocked portion of my bag when I wasn't in my room (I only left chewing gum in there which is why I leave it unlocked). I was also nearly mugged in La Boca when I unknowingly crossed the railroad tracks and ventured down near where some criminals hang out. I would definitely go back, but I felt like I had to be switched on constantly and always looking over my shoulder.

Well, La Boca is a very dangerous place for tourists.

Yes, I know. We were warned before going there and saw tourist police everywhere. I only crossed the tracks because I saw a large tourist group in that direction so I went to check it out. They turned at the next corner though as I was walking over and before I knew it I was alone with a local walking up to me with his hand by his side. I had plenty of time to react though and just turned around.

I love the country and would go back for sure, just didn't feel entirely safe when I was there. Except for Ushuaia, that place was very safe.

It can be a safe place but you have to use your common sense. The people who got stabbed were out late at night and walking through dark areas. I found that it was the type of place where one street would be really safe but if you turn one or two streets in a different direction then you're not in a good area anymore. I can guarantee you it's a much safer country than Brazil though, that place is messed up.

I think @GROKEN would be able to tell you better about how to stay safe there.

The only way to stay safe here is to not go alone at night, always bring someone with you, that way you'll prevent that kind of unpleasent issues.

What is the average salary in argentina for fresh graduate? by the way, welcome to the jungle!

Hey you!

So this will be a basic introduction.

I'm from Argentina, a country which is located in South America, you've probably heard of it because of a football player called Leonel Messi which was born here and as some of the best analysts might suggest, he's currently "the best football player in the world" (no fighting for this please, this is not my opinion)

Anyway, i'm here to make tons of money just like you guys, so i hope we can get to know each other and enjoy our stay in this awesome forum.

See ya' soon in the forum!
