I was going through some old notes recently and found a few domain names that I want to buy years ago but not did.

Now I checked themand found that some were later developed into successful websites while others were sold for much more than their original registration price.

It got me thinking about how many opportunities we pass on becuase we are unsure at that time.

Have you ever come accross a domain, decided not to bus and later regretted to that decision ?

I would be interested to hear your stories.

I have had that couple of times. It taught me that if a domain fits a long term idea and the price is reasonable then it is often worth registering. Replacing a good name later usually ends up costing much more.

I’ve had that happen more than once, really. It kind of reminds me that solid domain names are like digital real estate you don’t see their worth until someone else builds on them, then suddenly it makes sense. Meanwhile there’s always fresh opportunities, so I try not to stay too long on the ones I let go, or the paths I didn’t take.

It certainly is. I have let slip a couple of really good names at an early stage oly to see them purchased and then sold off much later for a lot more.
What I learned was that if the name fits a certan need and the cost is relatively cheap, it’s always better to go ahead and get it than wait

Yeah, I have had my share of such items, and most of the time, it is just get to it later Something else gets done and then you find that it is just delay in action. Now I simply go by the motto that if it has a use case and low cost of renewing it, I do not think twice about it

No, I buy lot of domains. Which obviously leads to regretting not renewing some of the domains which got snatched by domainners and domain registrars. They never expired and got avialable again for registration.

Yep more than once. The worst feeling is seeing a domain you ignored turn into a solid brand a few years later

These days if a name fits my niche and costs almost nothing I would rather grab it than wonder about it later

Definitely. I’ve passed on a few domains that later turned into solid brands or sold for much more. It taught me that you won’t catch every opportunity. If a domain has real potential and the cost is low, I’d rather register it than regret it later.

yeah had a 2 word exact match domain for $11 sitting in my cart for weeks, someone else grabbed it and it's a real brand now

Ooooh, you hit a sore spot. I wanted to buy a lot of domain names, including “Tesla,” which was later sold for a huge amount of money. I also wanted to buy a lot of different usernames on Telegram, but I didn’t do it, and I saw those usernames being sold for thousands of dollars

I have done the same quite a few times. I bought several domains thinking they had great potential, but honestly, most of them just ended up costing me renewal fees.

In my opinion, buying a good domain is only the first step. The real value comes from building a strong website, creating useful content, and growing the brand. Without a solid website behind it, even a great domain name is just a name.

Yes I have had that happen a few times Looking back some domains seemed expensive at the time but later turned into successful websites or were sold for much higher prices It taught me that if a domain has strong branding potential and fits a long term idea it is often worth securing early

buying and dropping domains taught me in life, you should have no regrets, and certainly not among $15 domains that you don't ever own outright anyway. .coms though really are the only sustainable bubble tulips! lol

I would regret the time i didn't put in to a domain that i bought. That i think is a management issue though. Happens when you keep buying the damn things! lol

I've definitely had that happen looking back the registration cost was tiny compared to the potential upside but that's part of the learning process in domaining

The .com era brought some funny names with it. Nobody could've predicted yahoo, google, reddit, twitter. These weren't serious names back in the 90's when everything was taken too seriously.

But I did miss some good ones

Me too i was will buy domain name but after2 Hours someone buy it fast

Yes I've had that happen a few times at the time the domain didn't seem worth it but looking back the registration fee was a small risk compared to the missed opportunity
