Have I been shafted by Google?

I have created a website specifically focussing on one keyword and ensuring everything I have done has been white hat.So why have I been penalised by Google?

I did all the right things, such as creating backlinks from associated websites and also adding original content. Over the weeks I have been watching the google results for this keyword, entering at 56th position, the following month position 32 and then to position 11 on the second page of google results.

I watch my rankings by using IBP ranking checker. About a day before the usual weekly time I run my ranking checker report, my site was still no.11 When I ran the rank checker,it reported that I was now number 10 on the first page, which I was really pleased about. I went to check this out in google, but could not find my site. In fact I could not find my site anywhere in the 25 pages of results.

Three days later and I now note that my site is back in Google and is the last search result on the very last page!

Have i been shafted by Google or is there some mafia cult protecting the page one results for this keyword? Or is IBP's ranking checker considered to be a black hat tool by google and I am therfore penalised in this wasy for using it?
Does anyone know why?

Just wait a few days and check the results imo. SEs always acting like this.

I had a 9 months old domain which wasn't indexed as i didn't use it. I submitted to 3-400 link directories and commented on some edu/gov blogs. After a month or so i was on yahoo, alltheweb and altavista on top 5 results and with google i was on page 40+ .

After 2 more weeks i had 300+ backlinks shown in yahoo 15 edu backlinks and 2 gov. I went on google first page for 4 different keywords with 5 mil+ results and went down in yahoo altavista and alltheweb. Now i`m still on first page google and yahoo page 7 , altavista page 4 and alltheweb page 2.
I used ip-delivery cloaking tho.

So just wait a few days and keep building links. Try to get some edu and gov backlinks and try to avoid link exchange.

You weren't penalised for using IPB btw.

It's extremely unlikely that you could be peanalised for using a rank check tool, however all such tools are against Google's TOS, so by definition they are black hat.

IP cloaking is simply returning a different page to the user depending upon his IP address, for instance you could detect that a user was in France so return the French version of your site, you could determine that the user is a search engine spider and return a page opimised for a spider rather than a human. So, there are white hat and black hat reasons to cloak, any cloaking is a risk and can get you banned by Google if you're caught (even if you think you're reaon is white hat

That's Great you are having No.10 Rank. As far as i know the no. 10 site gets more click than the no.3...4...5 in google. I'll Suggest you to try to maintain the position and see your analytics reports you'll really get the benefit for being no.10.

Kindly post your method here as.....A Step-by-Step technique of getting most click from Google without paying a dime. I really mean it. It will be a good post here

Dude, you're doing fine. G is just messing w/you. If this is a new site and you're aggressively getting backlinks , it's a coin-toss whether or not you'll get sandboxed or minus30, even if you are whitehat. Keep building those backlinks regardless.
