Had a root canal this morning

Ouch that does sound incredibly painful. My advise would be to take a few days off and go on a vacation to a place with less noise. You’re going to have an incredibly short temper for the next few days.

We're good we're good. I took a pain pill yesterday, allowed me to do some stuff.

Today I'm already feeling better. A little pain, but shouldn't take me out.

By tomorrow I'll be 100% again (unless a wild infection appears :( :p )

I feel you brother, but on the bright side, it is better to have some toothache, then a butt-ache, yes?

Indeed :D

You sound like my sister. But seriously, she goes on like this daily, throwing fists in the air because of kids near the balcony, heheh.

Get better soon! Dear god, this thread motivates me to move my ass, I need to actually stand up and go wash my teeth or something. But yeah, I'm thinking about some teeth health strategies, need to up my game a bit... Time to order some weird herbal tooth powder, one of these sonic toothbrushes and shilajit pills.

Your sister sounds #cool :D

Yeah man take care of your teeth. Fixing that shit is painful and expensive. And kinda depressing. It's like, you're getting old, you're losing your teeth.

Even if the crowns will end up looking better than your original teeth, it's still not pleasant, at all.

Came to this thread hoping for a diy root canal method. Disappointed. :(

I'm writing an eBook about that. No free samples, sorry :p

I hope you're feeling good man
I’m good! Drove myself home yesterday afternoon and went to work on my computer. Worked all day today. Extraction isn’t that bad.

I had to get a root canal once too. The pain before it was absolutely debilitating. I was at a friends house when it hit. I couldn’t drive or anything. The girl I was with had to drive me to the dentist and fortunately I was able to find one that would see me that same day to at least prescribe something until I could get in. Root canal stuff is bad news! Hope you’re good too!

Yuck.
Sounds like a truly bad day. You have my condolences.
Mine was almost as bad. My recurring illness struck again so did lots of sleeping.

Yeah you know, it really depends. Sometimes a root canal is really painful after, and sometimes it's not a big deal. I guess it depends on how many roots and how easy or hard it is to clean them, and also on how good the dentist is.

Like the dentist I have now is a little young and not as experienced, and I had a good amount of some disgusting fluid going down my throat. And then yesterday the right side of my throat was also kinda painful, and I'm sure it's because of that. Even today it's a little soar, if I open my mouth or whatever.

My old dentist who did almost all of my root canals, that never happened, because he would use the thing to suck up most of the excess fluid he's putting on here. But my old dentist was significantly more expensive too :p

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I did them 2 at a time. The top two were a walk in the park, easy peasy. Because they were straight. But my bottom two killed me for a day or two after, because they had grown sideways, so it was harder to extract, and required stitches, etc.

So it really depends on the situation, and how competent (and caring) the dentist is.

Wow, I read your post. I found out yesterday that my dentist last year partially worked on my back root canal and didn't finish. I kept going back and still they kept saying that the x rays show no signs of damaged teeth I've been in beyond pain for 3 weeks but got used to it. I went to a new dentist and they told me. Shits 1500. It's hitting my nerve

You were awake for the wisdom teeth extractions? How do you not have nightmares from it?!? They knocked me out for that and took all 4 at once. I was messed up for a few days too!

That root canal I told you about was so long ago I don’t remember if it hurt after or not. That was way back in 2005 for me. But you are right about the dentist and their skill!

Either way any kind of dental work like this causes me moderate anxiety. It’s all not a fun thing!

You should contact an attorney!

Yup, if the root canal isn't cleaned up all the way, it's gonna hurt. Even worse, it can get infected, and then it's a real problem.

But I do have one tooth where they could not clean it all the way. And this was the best dentist I ever had, an expert in root canals. Every time I get an x-ray, I get asked who did my root canals, because they're all done so well.

But for this one tooth, for some reason he could not clean it up all the way. He explained to me why, but it was years ago, I don't really remember. Anyway he told me I may experience some pain there sometimes. And I do, sometimes, a tiny bit.

So yeah but you should take care of that. Worry about the money later.

Of course I was awake. Local anesthetic, boom, done.

Honestly, I don't really mind the dentist, after having been to one sooo many times in my life. My biggest trip is the anesthetic. If that's done right, 99% of what comes after is more of an inconvenience than sharp pain that makes your head explode.

But I've noticed, there are dentists that know how to give you an anaesthetic and do it painlessly, and others that just shove the needle in, and it hurts like hell until they're done. Seriously, there's a specific skill some dentists have, they know how to hit you with the needle and you barely even feel it.

But my current (new) dentist goes a step further, and first he sprays some numbing spray on the area where he'll inject the needle. We wait a minute, and then he hits me. It's even less painful than the dentists that know how to do it painlessly (without spraying beforehand). I like it, it's a good thing :)

I also could not sleep. A bunch of kids under my balcony were playing "Going back to my roots" very loudly on a loudspeaker.

Ok so things aren’t going so well for me after the extraction I mentioned. I went to the ER because I got an abscess. And it’s not going away. I can’t hear out of my left ear. I wasn’t prescribed pain medication so I want to introduce you to a good song in case I don’t make it.

Oh damn bro. I also had some pain yesterday, more than the day before. Found it a little worrying. But now I'm good again, it seems.

Okay, it's not the end of the world. I had an abscess once a few years ago. But not after an extraction, but during a root canal. Ended up getting an apicoectomy (I think that's what it's called). Most unpleasant procedure.

But don't worry about it, you'll get it fixed. Just don't neglect it. And make sure you have some pain pills on hand. Stay strong bro!

That sucks! Life is like a box of chocolate... :)

The pulsating pain that comes with root canals is definitely annoying. It syncs with your heart beat

Been there a few times.. Probably the second worst pain after kidney stone.. I can feel you, man.. Get well soon.

Oh no! Are you okay?
