Don't be too disheartened, I have kids books that I price at $2.99 that I make $3000+ per month from each book.

Anything sells at any price so long as the quality is high enough and people want to buy it.

If you are having issues selling it is more likely you have chosen the wrong niche / keywords at the start.

I cannot stress enough that is the most important part of the whole process for being commercially successful on Kindle. Choose the right niche, keywords and over deliver to your reader and you will make money on KDP. Choose the wrong niche / keywords and no matter how good the book is it will make no meaningful sales.

Over the top website and yiu can't get a lot better than how to chat up foreign women when you are on holiday yet ebook only sells 1 or 2 a month

I am spending a LOT of time on research the right niches and the keyboards.
Those books are not on sell yet, hope to publish this week.

Maybe the niche is not good enouf.
What is the rank for the best seller in your niche?
And maybe the cover/description and book quality is suck :)
you need to analise those elements.
 
Has anyone had success by having 3 short stories in one physical made Book with Createspace?

This way I don't have to.make extra pages to 24 to get published.

Do you think.it may work?

I calculated a KU/KOLL royalty of $1.376 for January. Does anybody know how the recent addition of that $5.5 Million they mentioned in emails will affect the rates? I know they give out bonuses to three countries's top 100 authors and top 100 books, but I did the math and it works out that the bonuses only make up $1.79 Million. If the royalty is $1.38 (based on dividing my total royalty by the number of downloads I had for January), then how does that remaining $3.71 Million come into play? Do they mean they'll go back and increase the download royalties?

It's just a speculation but the markets in Europe are growing fast. Especially after Christmas when a lot of people bought a Kindle reader and signed up for KU. Another reason could be that A. subsidises the worldwide kdp select fond to stay attractive for self publishers in Europe because of the new tax laws in Europe (before: 3% taxes; since 2015: the taxes of the countries (up to 20%)). It's just a speculation. We have to take it like it is and focus on publishing.
 
Damn I was setting up a print in Createspace and its outside the margins
So do I just scrap the 5x8 and choose larger for a 5x11 pdf?
 
Do you mean the ISBN that you get from A.? No you don't have to include this number because A. includes the number automatically on the last page. For the cover: Type in Google: "CreateSpace Cover Template"

In general: I have some really great fiction books (up to 200 pages; < rank #10.000 (ebook vesion)) but the paperback versions have no sales. It's just a nice marketing tool to look more professional and hopefully sell more ebooks. That's all. For non fiction paperbacks are great.
 
I didn't read the entire thread, but did someone have luck putting up ebooks with affiliate links in them? Or will amazon delete/ban your account for it? Or is it a bad idea in general?

I have an outline for a kids book as well that I am currently trying to produce, do you have any advice on how to go about getting the illustrations done? I quoted your post because you have specific experience with children's books.

The most important part is ensuring your childrens book is in a niche that sells.

If you are 100% with that, look at the length / style etc of the competitors books in your niche and that will determine the minimum quantity /quality of illustrations you need.

I am afraid after that putting any team together is very time consuming and just trial and error in terms of quality and reliability by going to the various job websites and contacting people.

Ensure when you select someone that you view a portfolio before making a decision and make sure that the contractor knows you will own 100% copyright, that you will be publishing it and I also suggest not giving them a credit(you want to make your pen name famous, not them!)

I just made a CreateSpace version of one of my eBooks. How can I tie it to my existing Amazon eBook version? Right now, I've got the original version and a draft for an eBook version of the CreateSpace book in my Bookshelf.

Also, does CreateSpace keep a percentage of the Amazon royalty if the eBooks associated with the printed versions?
