Wow. From $0 to $20,000/mo in roughly 9 months (you started in May 2014, right?). Congrats on all the success! How many books would you say you have now? Do you remember how many it took before you saw $3,000/mo?
Nooo, I started in May 2014 and want to reach 20k/month at the end of this year. I'm currently "just" at 10k/month with exactly 36 books.
I started to write my own non fiction books. About 10 books. Just one of them is really successful with about 2500/month. That's impressive I know but:
a) the proportionality is bad (just 1 of 10)
b) it's really hard work
c) it's not easy to find good non fiction writers and it would be expensive
d) niche and keyword analysis is necessary and that's hard work too.
So I switched to fiction and realised that it's more easy to find writers, it's cheaper, niche and keyword analysis is not so important and I'm able to market mostly every book. I pay $100 for a story and make about $85 in the first 30 days (some books are going better than others but that's the average). So I decided to go this safe way with fiction books. And again: Yes, maybe I could make more money with non fiction books but the proportionality (1/10 had success) was too bad for me. I think it's NOW more important to increase my monthly income steady with fiction books.
BUT: I also know that short storys are nothing for long term success. Maybe it works for one, two or three years and that's the reason why I make a cut at 20-25k/month and use my financial freedom to produce high quality non fiction books. Because at this level I have the time, I have the money etc. to do this. Non fiction books are my plan for long term success because information never get old (mostly). There will always be customers for vegan nutrition, fitness, business (just some stupid examples). You're also able to build other products around your niche (content websites, video courses, smartphone apps, physical products etc.)
My exactly plan is:
- I am currently able to publish 12 books per month with my system (3-4 writers, $1200-1500 investment per month, I'm doing the formatting and correction alone, I'm able to increase my income by 1k/month)
- outsourcing of the correction and formatting to be able to publish 20 books per month (higher investment but also a higher increasing of my income, more time to focus on other things)
- keep on publishing 3 part series + box sets
- creating paperbacks of the box sets
- creating audio books of the box sets
- reaching 20-25k/month at the end of this year
- sell my already running system of workers to a friend (he just has to invest) OR rent my system OR hire a manager OR scale it down BUT I will definitely focus on non fiction
- 2015: making 100k after taxes and increase my income to 25k/month
- 2016: making 250k after taxes and increase my income to 30k/month
- 2017: making 300k and increase my income to 40k/month
- 2018: 400k/year, 50k/month
= Millionaire. Sounds strange I know but I will reach this no matter what happens. And I know there are many other great investments on my way to increase my income faster than 10k/year. New ideas, new products, new income streams, new possibilities to automate processes, new contacts who inspire me and so on.
Success is a mind thing. And if you are able to visualise your dreams you will automatically come closer and closer to your goals. If you already reached your goals in your mind your body (your reality) will follow! A strong personality is everything!
