Keep sharing with us what's happening. It stopped for me also, after getting 8000+ free downloads (in 3 days), dozens of 2.99 USD sales, and now all is dead.

It's probably worth trying for a month, perhaps it works for you. I tried but the results weren't effective. Books on the highest scores (90's) get a sale every other day or so.
It depends on your niche. If it's something detailed I'll provide them with source articles and they can do their own thing with them.I've found other niches so easy even I can write the books myself.

Could it be because it's exactly 1 month from kindle unlimited? My trial expires today and I got it when it came out.
- quick side question.. Amazon.com is keeping 30% for taxes, and an additional 30% for royalties, so does that mean as a Canadian for every $3 book, I get to keep $1 For that matter if I sell a 99 cent book amazon keeps 70%, so that means a 99 cent book I get 0? Surely that cant be how it works?

I have a cool trick that lets you create multiple Author Central accounts for your pen names using a single email address. I tried to post it but apparently I can't post email addresses and URLS. Pm if you would like to know.
Now a question: I have a paperback version of my kindle book but I can't see it in the Amazon search engine and it only shows up next to the kindle version on the UK website. What's up with that? I've checked CreateSpace and everything seems to be in order.

GUYS! I have a killer idea for a Children's Book. Problem is I see all those books with drawings throughout and cover, I have zero skills with drawing, especially a dozen different pics of my character in different situations. I don't have a big budget for hiring an artist. Anyone on this thread have idea how to make pics that will get point across without breaking the bank as far as cost. I am good at PS, but no idea how to get my concept to come to life. Any help appreciated. You can PM me if you like too!

On books selling at $2.99 Amazon takes 30% as their commission.
So you are down to about $2.10.
As a non US resident you have to go through a messy task of contacting the IRS to get an EIN number in order to not have tax withheld. It is 50/50 whether they give you one, depending on the mood they are in.
So yes work on the assumption you get another 30% of your $2.10 withheld for tax.
Your looking at receiving about $1.47 or circa 49% of the gross on a $2.99 book.
On a $0.99 book - frankly I would not bother selling them.
Amazon keep 65% so you get about $0.35, 30% withheld for tax of that means you get about $0.25 per book sold.
It is a total pain on the arse. Amazon cream 000's off my income each month and what is really galling is they don't even f##king pay the proper tax to the government!

I never really considered myself much of a writer but this ebook stuff has really been interesting me as of late. Is there really much hope for someone like me in this business, I'm not really sure what I could write about enough as far as non-fiction stuff. Do you guys really just research a topic online and collect info on something like Health related topic for example and then release a book about it ? And are there any copyright issues with doing that ?

I upload on average 1 new book per day and in the USA as a result of Kindle Unlimited, I have noticed sales going down but downloads going up. At the moment the net effect is more money.
