They don't give a sh!t about how much your book is. It could be $1 or $50.

Starting to sound like it's time reconsider KDP Select then... No point in giving Amazon exclusive rights plus the ability to rape me on the price. In an ideal situation (Amazon is going to state the ideal situation on their website) it might be possible to make a bit more money but the good majority of people look like they'll be screwed.

The only real variable is the question that can't be answered, "Would this guy have just pirated the book if it wasn't available on Kindle Unlimited?" If a pirate turns into a legit, yet not paying very much, customer it could be beneficial. Spotify seems to fill a similar void as I pay them monthly but in return I don't pirate music anymore.

Edit: I'd also imagine Amazon is going to get played pretty quick. If very few people are paying the asking price for the book and they're all downloading with Kindle Unlimited then I'm going to jack the book prices through the roof. It doesn't cost the reader anything so I'd imagine quite a few people are going to use the more expensive is better mentality.

To be fair, many more people might borrow a book that they never would have bought, so it could still work out in peoples favour. However, I would agree that chances are better this will not work in most authors favour.

As stated above, it may change the way books are created with maximum profit in mind. However, it's a little too soon to fully understand the impact of this new program. I'd love to start seeing feedback from a bunch of authors here on the subject.

I am excited too but in a positive way. If you only rely on kindle books as your one and only income stream ...you maybe fail. But if you had build up a system around your niches (maybe with different traffic sources, other products and so on) you will definitely benefit. More borrows = more traffic. More traffic = $$$. You can increase your client list and so on. So I am in a positive mood.

Btw: Today I have reached the 150$/day mark with my 8 books.
 
Do most people write non-fiction or fiction? Also for fiction how many words do you normally tell your writers to write?
 
It depends what they have to offer, do they have something to teach or a story to tell?

Also I am wondering for those fiction writers / publishers out there, roughly how much are you spending per book to have a quality book written?

Hey pinger, by system you mean a website? If so, what info do you put on it? Do you think you can PM me the link to one of your books as I want to see how you go about doing this. I'm not looking to steal your niche/s if you're thinking about that.
 
Hey guys, quick question. I was wondering: when writing a non fiction eBook, do the sources that you research on Google have to be cited? I obviously don't copy and paste and I certainly don't make it obvious that I paraphrase the content, but I've been told that I should still cite the sources because it's their ideas and that I could get sued if I don't. Any thoughts on this or official word on significantly altered content? Thanks.

For significantly altered content I don't usually find it necessary to cite sources of my research. That said, it is sometimes valuable for the reader to have links to additional resources that complement your subject matter so you may still want to consider it.

Thanks for the response. What concerns me most is how long will an eBook continue to sell? I am working on my second one, but I can't help but worry that any eBook I write may eventually dry out in revenue, realistically speaking. I would love to build up my passive income with this, but I don't know if it's feasible to continue receiving income from eBooks many years from now. If anybody else has any experience with this, it would be great to hear your story regarding the eBooks' longevity.

eBook's, along with any other income method, will eventually dry out. There's no method on this planet that you'll be able to come across where you work for a few months and then just kick back for 40 years. You'll need to continue to write and update books, or you better come up with some real good **it like Harry Potter.
