Hey Everyone its Tiger again with a new thread about Youtube Ranking and the Algo again since my last thread was very helpful.

In this video I will show you, that without channel authority and a good specific ctr (not the general ctr in the analytics tab) you cant rank any videos. Even when the views are organic.

So what did I do?

I took an old unused channel and uploaded 2 OC Videos. Then I posted one of the videos on a huge subreddit which went to the frontpage of that subreddit. So all the views were organic.

The results in less than 48 hours on a brand new channel:
xx3aFRe

Great views, lots of comments, lots of likes. Everything organic. This video got me 114 subs on my first day and its still growing. So it should rank like hell and get tons of views from suggested and browse feature right?

Lets dive deeper into the analytics:

40En8kc

Retention was 65% which is above average (yes it was a short video as a test but the results dont differ for a long video). Still I just got 1% of my views from suggested views and browse feature is even below that:

9GcpRr7

And we are talking about real human T1 views from reddit (can prove that if needed) so its no comparison to the low quality bot views.

Conclusion:

Dont expect to rank insanly with just feeding engagement from external sources (be it bot views or organic). It helps a little bit like shown in this case study but you wont be famous over night. Instead work on your Channel authority (most important but hardest metric) and also your specific ctr (each ctr ranks seperatly (if you want a lot of suggested views a high ctr in search wont help you))

If you want to read more case studies or guides about ctr, retention or channel authority just tell me. Also feel free to ask any questions and I may answer them if I find time

Apart from Reddit views, Google gives initial boost to new videos to see if they make it to trending list. I got one video rank in Google search for the first week and got 5k+ views, then it lost ranking. Google blindly trusts authority and this is valid for Youtube too. If the channel is old and has some authority, then you can easily rank with irrelevant videos too. For example, you can talk about SEO while playing pubg on a live stream and rank for SEO.

great post, looking forward for a similar test with Geo-targeted watch-page views using a best-seller CPA offer

Good case study. Like you said, channel authority is really important for ranking videos in the suggested videos section.

I would also be interested in more case studies like these :)

If you don't optimize properly you may never be able to rank for a specific keyword. If your video doesn't perform well organically with the audience you're targeting, you may never rank for it regardless of channel authority or external metrics whether it's real traffic or fake.

In this case, your average watch time for keyword search is 51 seconds. Depending on the competition, this might be too low to rank regardless of what you do.

And CTR while one of the most important ranking factors, doesn't matter on it's own. For example, let's say you have higher CTR then competitors but people are watching your video for 51 seconds, then clicking 'back', clicking another video in search and engaging with it better. That could kill the ranking. CTR and watch time together are very important, other user behaviour that the analytics don't show you are also likely just as important.

The video must be right for the audience your targeting rankings for, otherwise the boost is useless.

I agree that channel authority and click through rate may help a bit but the organic audience video performance is king so that's why this kind of test isn't mostly useless without the full context.

If possible, next time you should include in your post info on what your video is about and what your competitiors videos you are trying to outrank are about, as well as their video durations, when they were posted and their metrics. Or whatever info you think is relevant to the ranking that you can collect. It would be cool if you could tracking the ranking changes over the first couple of weeks as after a day or two ranking can drop then rerank later so ending test too soon or early is useless and rank changes are interesting.

But regardless, I appreciate this post. Not many people share testing/results here anymore and it can help the community a lot <3

People tend to keep focusing on trying to get their video suggested by youytube thinking these watchpage/watchtime views will help. The key is to rank your video for a highly searched keyword (obviously your niche) and then by having a great if not better thumbnail/title than your competitors, your video will increase CTR. After succeeding with these metrics, youtube will then understand that your video is likable and doing well, thus getting suggested. It's not 2017-18 where you can just buy some views and youtube will think your video is poppin.... sadly XD

saying bot views dont work is due to your lack of experience or knowledge or access to the right resources. the bot views themselves act like youtube traffic.

anyway i have my own private one that works and able to get to suggested videos every time.

rather than depending on social media or smm panels views that is public and is under youtubes radar, invest your money into a developer who can make a private bot for you.
it wont be cheap though.

bots will work for suggested views but you need to make a good one that atleast emulates human behaviour a bit.

also if one channel isnt getting views from suggested by using external traffic , does not mean another channel wont. also it depends on channel ranking authority etc. some channels always perform better than the other. you need to keep buying channels and testing

Thanks for this case study So how can we build this channel authority and a good specific ctr ??

where can i find people who can make private bots, and how much would they cost?

channel authority = subscribers ????

the real way to rank is CTR/WATCHTIME/VIEW VELOCITY. People are getting caught up on this channel authority; yes, youtube does favor channels with more subs, but, if you can manage to bring in views over time while having a high CTR/WATCHIME, you'll be able to rank for competitive keywords. You can just buy 10k views is one day then no views after. Youtube wants to see a trend.

No hate but i have seen you many times mentioning about your private bot sometimes you say your friend has a website from which you are redirecting traffic sometimes you say you have YouTube bot it seems like some trick to get dms maybe its not:rolleyes:

I proved retention is not king here:

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/retention-is-king-bullshit.1203018/

Basically, the video that has a highest retention, way above the average as seen in the graphics, and it's a long video too, doesn't get recommended by algorithm. It's in the same niche as the rest, same niche with variations, my entire channel is that now, and basically it performs like shit. It gives me negative subs too, I presume my channel is too big and now I need a big treshhold of views in order to break even and get positive sub counts with the videos. Since YT stopped giving sperate subs gained/subs lost and just gives you the net result for some stupid reason, that is my theory. I wish I could see the separate graphs to see if the video for some fucking reason gives me an abnormal amount of subs lost but again I can't see that, so I can't know if that alone impacted the fucking video negatively even if it has top notch retention and watchtime as soon on graphics:

wt.png

The video continues to underperform, its basically dead now. The only other theory would have been that at launch, the CTR was not high enough, so basically it got killed, but the CTR now is up, and it still doesn't get picked up by the motherfucking algorithm.

I have a new video ready, I worked hard for like a month, a new animation, once again, same niche, varied story, let's hope this one works out better. If it doesn't work im going to start getting nervous because my channel depends on a handful of 3-4 videos that receive traffic from the recommended section of the algorithm. Basically if you don't get recommended it's over, your channel starts shrinking because you gain all those subs and then if they cut the traffic the channel is too big to maintain the organic lost of subs without enough new people coming in. It's fucking insanity how you work for a month in an animation and then you have this crapshot of a window of opportunity to get clicked on and if you don't, the video is dead, assuming the CTR was the cause of this again. The thumbnail was good, there's garbage in my same niche going viral with lame thumbnails, no keywords and even some grammar mistakes on the titles.. its insanity.

Im considering using the "promote" tool and pay to get my video pushed if next time the same happens because I refuse to work a lot on a video that has great watchtime only to not have it recommended by algorithm. If you pay for this, can you revive a video that does not get recommended by the algorithm and put it into the recommended bracket? Man, recommended traffic is fucking everything, nobody gives a tos about you unless you are some famous celebrity, they will not search for anything. Only in very high CPM niches having good ranking for search matters. In entertainment, you NEED recommended traffic, because you need a lot of views to get a decent amount of cash. And if you are an anonymous creator, nobody cares about you, you depened on Adsense. Only cult personalities can start shilling affiliates, merch, and go on twitch and stuff. I do animations, im anonymous, so I basically depend on the Adsense algorithm.

channel authority = subscribers ????

I would also like to know what in the fuck does "channel authority" even means. Certainly not subs. I just saw someone point to these 2 channels:

https://www.youtube.com/user/OMGcraftShow/videos

https://www.youtube.com/user/howtoprankitup/videos

That's 1+ million sub channels with very bad performing videos incapable of ranking. There's many channels like that. In fact, the other day I saw something interesting:

https://www.youtube.com/user/mileyofficialonline/videos?view=0&flow=grid

Miley Cyrus started uploading livestream videos during lockdown:

This one is 36k views... for a 13 million views channel. I mean what the fuck. What's the point of having subs? I mean im sure if she uploaded a videoclip of music it would have millions of views, but its interesting that those videos didn't rank. That's a 0.27% of their subscriber base watching that video. How's that even fucking possible?

But look at the other channels:

https://www.youtube.com/user/OMGcraftShow/videos

1+ million, around 10 to 30k views

And this one:

https://www.youtube.com/user/howtoprankitup/videos

3.16 million subs, sometimes can't even get to 10k

Why do those channels become so stagnant? I can find many examples like this. Exact similar niches do great, some other don't. What's the deal?

Explain what channel authority is? and prove those metrics help with experiments? because my conclusion is that having a lot of subs is increasingly irrelevant, unless you are FAMOUS and people actively wait for your next video and are fucking addicted to your content. Otherwise it's just "i was watching this and clicked subscribed" and the number goes up but doesn't translate in better ranking in an algorithm viewpoint.

Explain what channel authority is?
Its similar to the DA of a domain.
You get authority when someone searches for a term, then finds and clicks on your video, then watches your video, then subscribes and likes your video. But you will gain authority for that keyword and thats how your future videos will rank for that keyword
and prove those metrics help with experiments?
i dont need to, should i just do experiments just for you, your HIGHNES. All i have said are from experience, if you dont believe me then thats your choice but dont come at me like some dude" ouu if you dont provide screenshots that never happened"
