[Guide] How to use Expired Domains effectively

Hi, great post, I really liked your Ahref hacks.

I'd like to hear opinions from both @Nargil and @fasttrak If possible
I am very new to the concept of expired domains. When I saw a decent domain which was dropped around 2018 I bought it and want to repurpose it as an affiliate site. I am facing some initial technical issues. And I couldn't find a proper answer (or the answer is a bit confusing for me). I installed Wordpress and set it up with search console. But GSC is showing the below data:

38ER1dL

I haven't done any redirection with this site.
I think I can clear the errors, but what should I do about all these links? Should I redirect all of them to my home page or redirect just the ones with backlinks? Do you think this is a sign of a healthy site?

I see few PBN post sellers selling PBN links from 7 years aged domains, 10 years aged etc..
How to buy expired domains with age?
If we buy closeout domains will we get aged domain?

How many domains can we do 301 redirect to money website?

thanks for this OP. Very impormative guide.

Thank you @fasttrak :) it works but you knew that.

One comment though before jumping in the wagon and buying the domain - go to Wayback and check as many snapshots as you can - for my niche I found 2 re-used by Chinese porn, 1 with a mention like "Following judgment...", one was even re-used by a pump manufacturer in Indonesia... I even found one with over 8,000 spammy comments on each post.

Not sure how these would affect the newly imported site but we are not the only ones reusing some juice :)

Thank you @fasttrak

I wonder exactly the same... If it had Chinese porn early in 2019, can we upload the old page (before the Chinese takeover) and wait for Google to reindex it again?

am new in these but learning as fast as i can , i subscribe to 7 days ahrefs , i am looking forward to buying an expired domain, i found some through broken links in ahrefs, i am interested in a particular one with .org the DR is 42 and i have checked the way back machine nothing shows up just saying domain has been packed, the anchor text is clean from ahrefs and has just three do follow backlinks one from adobe
just want an expert advice if i should buy it

Pretty neat share. Expired domains can add a lot of value if the research is on the point.

How similar does the content need to be? Is it only title and header tags that google looks for or do you go for a 1 to 1 exact replica? Any examples of PBNs at work or videos of such examples?

I just restored a domain but the original authority links (wiki and a few others) are pointing to the page that ends in .aspx. The domain that I restored using the Waybackdownloader has the .html extension. Should I change it to the .aspx extension to ensure that it does not lose linkjuice ? Any ideas if there is a batch processor/ easy way to change all the extensions at once ? Thanks!

Thanks for this great guide.

This has given me a kick up the backside as I have a couple of expired domains that I've done nothing with yet.

thank you for the useful information you are knowledged member however where is your source about this? "Google will treat a new registration as a new domain; it will have zero authority and zero backlinks. "

this i never noticed, actually the opposite. or is it a 2020 update

While you are waiting for the backlinks to index on the Google search console, does it usually say no data?
