[Guide] How to post on FB groups - a different perspective
Is this a free guide?
Yes. I'm not selling or promoting anything here, just giving out free advice.
Does this guide include a story about bears?
Yes, it does
Is this guide for beginners or for experts too?
It's also for experts. Even if you've been spamming groups for years now, it will let you see a different perspective. You might like it and you might not. You might agree with it and you might not. But it will definitely make you think.
Why did I write this guide?
One of the threads here mentioned MassPlanner's post on how to post to FB groups without getting penalized:

The info in that post is good, and will teach you exactly that, but I believe they missed the point.
So what is the point?
I'll answer it with a story:
John's wife asked him to go hunting in the forest, to get some meat for dinner.
John took his rifle and went to the forest. On the way there, he used his smart phone to read a post called: "How to use your rifle to shoot many shots in the forest without getting eaten by a bear".
That was a great post, with many good tips and examples. He followed all the tips, and succeeded: He used his rifle and shot hundreds of shots and he wasn't eaten by a bear.
When he got home his wife asked him: So, how many animals did you get, John?
And John proudly said: I shot a hundreds of shots, and I wasn't eaten by any of the bears there. But I was so focused on not getting eaten by bears and just shooting and shooting, that I didn't actually kill any one of the animals.
They went to sleep hungry that night.
John slept on the sofa
I didn't get the moral of the story. Could you explain it without talking about bears?
Yes.
If you're marketing on FB, your objective ISN'T to post on as many groups as possible without getting caught.
No, really, it's not. Read that again and make sure you understand that.
Because that would be like shooting many shots in the forest without killing an animal.
Your real objective is simple: Get as many people as possible to see your post.
That's it.
Once they see it, you next objective will be to make them convert (buy your product or click on your link or whatever). But that is not your objective now. Right now you just want to make sure that as many people as possible see your post.
But if I want more people to see my post I need to spam more groups, right?
No, wrong.
In order to kill more animals, you don't need to shoot more shots. You just need to aim...
Most BHW threads talk about spamming more groups, spamming faster, choosing larger groups and not small ones etc.
My tactics are totally different.
But, wait. Why do you need a different tactic?
Because when you post in a FB group, most members of that group won't see your post.
How can you be sure of this?
1. I tested it a lot, so you can just trust me on this one
2. Test it yourself in a small group: If you post in a small group (<250 members), you can see the exact number of people that saw your post.
3. Test it yourself in a large group: post on your FB PAGE, then SHARE that post to a group. Now, any person that sees your post in the group will be counted in the post reach that you see on your FB page, so you can see the exact number.
So how many people see the post?
There is no exact number or percentage, but it is a very low figure.
Wait. So you're saying that if I post on a group, only a small percentage of its members will see it. So if I post on MANY groups, I will get more people, right?
Not really.
If you post on many groups, you will most likely get caught by FB, or get your link banned etc.
To solve this, ask yourself a simple question:
When you post on a group, WHERE do people see your post?
It sounds like a dumb question, but if your answer was "inside the group" you are only half right.
Indeed, some people will see your post in the group, especially if it's a quality group that has a lot of discussions/comments in it.
But the full answer is this:
When you post to a group, a member of the group can see it:
1. Inside the group.
2. On his news feed.
3. By getting a notification.
(If it's a PUBLIC group then other people can see it as well.)
And if you do a lot of testing (don't worry, I did that for you...) you'll see that if a member of the group is also your FB friend, the chances are much higher for #2 and #3 to happen. I'm not going into all the details of why this happens, since this guide is already way too long, but just trust me on this one or do some testing and you'll see that this is true.
So how do you aim?
1. Pick a group in your niche.
2. Set up 1 or more accounts that will post to that group.
3. Add the group members as friends (either manually or using a bot to scrape the list and slowly send them friend requests).
4. Post to the group.
5. Rinse & repeat. Choose another group, assign an account to it, etc.
These are all very basic things to do.
But try to understand what I did here...
I made sure that account1 will post to group1, but when it does, more people from this group will see the post, since they are friends with account1, and will therefore have a better chance of seeing it in their news feed or getting a notification about it, and not just seeing it inside the group.
And account2 will post to group2, etc.
That's it.
Sorry for the long guide, but I hope it will make you think about your group spamming tactics.
