Speaking as someone who has a 3k+ sub-channel almost by accident, doing something that people are searching for but nobody is doing is the ticket. I started making videos on a particular thing because I couldn't find it anywhere. I got bored after 2 videos and gave up, then I happened to come back to my channel about 8/9 months later and found 100 or subs and a bunch of comments wanting to know where the next video was. So I carried on making them and now the channel is over 3k with an average growth of about 200 subs per month. It's been 600 subs this month but I'm writing most of that off as coronavirus-induced boredom.
