What's up BHW.
I joined the forum in November of last year but haven't been too active or even visited much. I think posting this should hopefully springboard me to start visiting more often. Since then I've been mostly lurking and trying to soak up as much information as I can. I have minimal internet marketing experience but this stuff really appeals to me since the potential for passive income is real. I've been dropshipping on eBay for over a year which brings in $100/month or $150 on a good month which is great, but I've been really hands off with it since I set it up, all I do is fulfill orders. I put maybe 30 minutes into it a week which I really like compared to the money it delivers. But I think dropshipping is pretty saturated and honestly I got pretty lucky with it as 90% of my listings have never even sold once. The automatic inventory and repricing tool I was using (SKUgrid) was recently revoked from eBay's API which makes inventory management pretty much impossible too.
Anyway I'd really like to move into making niche sites and monetizing them with ads, or try almost any other method that brings in passive income. I'm willing to put in the work at first like I did with my eBay store or later when I want to scale, but I'd like to be able to leave it alone and have it be making money in the background while I do whatever else. I've seen methods that are near the opposite of this, where people will design a shopify store for a few niche related products and then buy Instagram shoutouts on big pages or whatnot. That seems like a very one and done way of doing things to me. Maybe something to try later.
Diving into the world of ads is pretty overwhelming as it's something I've never explored before, just learning the acronyms is a handful and I still don't have them all exactly straight. I've been learning a bit about ad networks like OGads and Clickbank by reading, but in most the method posts I see the technical bits aren't explained like how to embed them on your website. Is this just something you just pick up over time by doing it or should I seek out courses on Coursera or similar? I'd also like to learn Wordpress, could anyone chime in on how they learned it? I've been on Udemy and worked through like 1/2 a free course but everyone seems to use different tools, the one I did used PHP MyAdmin. Is it just personal preference on how you want to manage your site?
If I was able to consistently make $10 a day, every single day by the end of 2018, I'd be pretty damn happy about that.
Sorry for the long intro post and I'm looking forward to learning more here.
