Early takeaways from Google's new AI search updates, aka Project Magi

1. Most answers appear to NOT cite sources
2. LINKS to dig deeper appear below/offside
3. Emphasis on SHOPPING features
4. SEARCH ADS continue to appear
5. Like ChatGPT, you can "continue" conversations

While answers don't cite sources, many results appear to generate helpful links:

- Local Results
- Images
- Videos
- Shopping No doubt most of these clicks will lead to other Google properties -- Maps, YouTube, Images, etc—& other results will generate links as well

Like current Google results, some answers appear to lead to additional questions/query refinements

And most results have a version of "People Also Ask"

Honestly, it's difficult to see how this WON'T result in lower CTRs for most web publishers - at least current Featured Snippet cite their sources But good to see opportunities exist for local, shopping, and image/video results - experiences difficult for AI to replace.

Please let me know your initial thoughts.

As this is completely new today, my thoughts are changing all the time.

- Search box for query to AI.
- Top of page has a reply from Google AI.
- Ads on the right side.
- More ads below.
- Links at bottom. But who goes to the bottom of a page?

Summary: If you want to show up in Google, pay for ads. Feel a lot of my sites will now take a negative hit.
