Google's getting better...

maybe SEOs should stop sucking so much.

Google is just bubbling up the good ones and the bad ones are just getting killed cuz they suck anyway.

bullshit, let;s all buy adwords ,fuck with ad words ,spam is the king

It's not like Google isn't making enough money :joke:

This has been stated so many times over the years, I have been hearing it since I started in SEO, and it is no more true today than it ever has been.

Ultimately if you understand how to build a half decent website that provides at least some value in some way and you can game the system enough you can get better rankings.

The formula of website + links hasn't really changed much just that the quality of the website and the links needs to be slightly better than terrible these days is all. With the improvements in Googles algorithm we have improvements in the tools available to us so not much has changed really, anyone trying to claim different isn't worth listening to.

I love love love when I read stories, posts, watch videos, etc of people quitting SEO and promoting quitting SEO.

This just allows the rest of us to bank harder because we adapt and learn. When the crowds are running one way, run the other.

Google is getting good at finding spam and makes blackhat SEO pretty tough.

OH REALLY ?! That is why Google is hiring more manual reviewers every day because the algorithm is getting better at detecting spam ? Lol what a huge pile of propaganda shit!

(Edit : To see the original interview that put me into thoughts /watch?v=uaba6sWPVPY)

A few days ago I saw a video interview with a well-known SEO (perform insider interview) and he said that he
was giving up on SEO for the reasons bellow

- Google is getting good at finding spam and makes blackhat SEO pretty tough.
- He also said that Google started counting time of visits to results on serps, meaning that if someone
stays more on one page it means that it's satisfies his needs and thus the site go up the serps...
- At the end Google always wins, we may get some small wins but after some time, we loose.
(If you play by their rules you'll keep playing the game of course but that's a fact... we play with some pretty strict rules atm)

SEO seems turn into creating value rather that link building at the end.
What do you guys think about this?

That is the Video, OP was referencing.

I found the coughing to be annoying so didn't pay great attention.

ross goldberg? I had to google the guy to even know who he was/is...

Code:
http://ross-goldberg.com/

Any video with a guy who owns a dismally bad website like this guy automatically looses any and all credibility in my eyes.

And seriously, SEO is about adapting to change plus finding the kinks in Google's armor and using those. If you have to give up, then you suck.. easy as that!

Maybe it's because I'm a few years older than the new generation of SEO gurus out there, but I've seen so many Google updates come and go and I'm still ranking my sites nicely! Sure.. you have to change the methods around and adapt, but that's what i'm always preaching anyway: ADAPT AND OVERCOME.

Being Successful in SEO requires a certain mindset. Those that just want to make the quick buck or resell other peoples stuff will never be successful.

This poor excuse of a man is what we call a top SEO these days?! At least the "guru's" of the 80's and 90's had a little more class.

So called SEO experts have no understanding of our craft and how we make our money
That video interview provides zero value to me.

In respect to google tracking time spent on websites - this is no surprise. Time spent on site has been a signal on relevancy for ages.

Google has hit a crossroad - their algo is as good as it will be for quite some time. The most recent update for example is now displaying results from the same domain on page one 3 or 4 times for some domains. That is ludicrous and a great example of how they fuck up one aspect of their algorithm when they fix another.
