Google "waiting period" after May 14 payday update?

Have noticed PBN links working, however still had a waiting period of roughly 2 weeks from links indexed in google - ranking on page 1.

This is exactly in line with my recent experience, too.

My 'golden' PBN domains are powering sites like never before. Golden being aged, and having a diverse link profile behind them. Once pointed at money sites, the money sites have an initial jump within 24-72hrs, and then the real ranking occurs in about 2-3 weeks.

I had the same experience with PBN ! I tried to rank my friends site with 30+ PBN links on a new domain.
also i have done some diversified link building. No changes in MOZ site explorer.
No change in my Money site DA PA. neither my primary keyword moved a bit.

It has High competition

Where else i am trying to rank a 3000 searches buy keyword Low-Medium competitive keyword.
I tried adding content and some optimization and social signal for a month.

It ranked in the 2nd page. now it has moved to 7th page. Probably SERP dance.
I have just added a single authority link to it.
I guess i will move with expired domain to rank with high competitive niche

The awaiting period did not applied to my new website had it for some days (not month) adding slowly pages and did some designing and today I have added it to webmaster tools and indexed the homepage withing some hours. Checked today keyword position and I was ranking 130 for some hard term buying keywords. No backlinks at all.

anyone noticed the same? (google dance) :p

Yes it's moving after 2-3 weeks on my network. I put just 1 quality link per week and per website. From nowhere to page #2 now

anyone noticed the same? (google dance) :p

Every other day the SERPS are entirely swapping each other recently. In one set I am in 26th position in the other set I am not at all in.
I don't know you would call that as GOOGLE DANCE. But the SERPs are inconsistent.

Yups me facing the same thing... but yeas even I am guessing that this is just the waiting period and things should fall in place soon

Ok. I finally came out of that waiting period for one of my site I believe it?s been close to three months. Not sure how I got out but these were the actions I took:

1) Redirected one of my old related site to my new site

2) Bookmarking

3) Created only two new posts during that whole waiting period

4) Created back links to my 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] tier links (wordpress.com, tumbler.com, blogspot.com, etc?)

5) Added a video on the front page of my main site and minor verbiage changes

6) And Finally I think what made the difference; I added PPC traffic to my site. I soon as I started seeing impressions on my campaigns all my keywords started showing up on first and second page.

Hope this helps someone who?s having the same issue as I was.

Glad you came out of it! I along with few SEO mates have experienced this before- i mean PPC boosting organic rankings but never been able to prove due to lack of consistency. I'm presuming that its Adwords and not other PPC.

I know its difficult to do but worth if you are brave to pause the campaign and see the effect. Almost all of us who experienced this in around 2012-13, had rankings drop

Yes. Adwords. No I don't think I'm that brave especially with my money site ; )
If it was a test site sure why not...
What did you do to get out of it back in 2012-13? what steps did you take?

:-) I wouldnt if i was but back then it was all about cracking quick bucks so most of us were ready to take a punt. Now ranking takes longer so the time and effort is just not worth if the stakes are high.
It was the good ole days of pyramids that ranked sites and if i'm not wrong we used giza pyramid from linkitpro. Take it with a pinch of salt though pyramids have gone down the pecking order and its all about relevancy, velocity, diversity and one and only PBN.

Some argue that PBN niche relevancy is key. Though i wouldnt dispute it, i have seen equal success with completely different niche rank my sites.

Try getting to page 1 and then you'll know that your site is also subject to the waiting period.

I want to clarify!

Waiting period is only for a new domain ? or a old domain with no seo done for a long time would behave the same way ??
What is i buy High PR domains in auction and start link-building on them ??

Would be glad if someone throws some light.

The waiting period begins as soon as you start optimising your site for a keyword. The only way I know of to bypass the waiting period is acquiring a site that already ranks high for the keyword you want to rank for.

I will clarify for you, there are many of people here who have ranked new and old domains, and ranked sites withing a few days, not months. Also if you take a look at other websites around the internet, you will see many of websites ranking that are new. Alternatively you can just keep bumping this thread and others like it, where you will get all sorts of made up stories which suit their inability to rank a website.

Is this over yet?

you are right ! its more of a psychological part. what has changed is. No overnight results to your SEO efforts.
probably months of static work.
