Google Update or aggro competitor

So a niche site of mine fell from Top5 Rankings to Page 2-4 in the last two days on all keywords. Those rankings were stable for months and now there's this weird sudden drop. Has Google rolled out some hardcore update (I've never experienced a ranking drop that bad) or is some competitor trying to fuck the site up?

I did a disavow yesterday, but due to the short time I don't think the potential toxic links did already show up in the search console (sometimes takes months). Has anybody experienced a drop that devastating in the last few days?

If you were Google slapped properly your rankings would be gone. If no toxic links are in GWM console then there are no toxic links Google are hammering (pretty sure this is one time where Google are honest) Check for a warning against the site in GWMT - the dreaded Red Cross and penalty notice/
What niche is this in? Are there new sites in this niche? They might be dancing around causing disruption to all around them (if you think about it every new site that dances affects all those in the niche as well)
A new competitor is most likely.
Have you considered that it could be a content slap? These happen more often than link slaps these days.

Good luck...

Thanks for your input. I already checked for penalty, there is none. I also don't use any spammy techniques and my PBN Sites are all well (they're partly also linking to other of my projects and client's sites, which are all doing OK). The Content on the Site is 100% handwritten and copyscape doesn't give me any errors. The website is about a product for teeth hygiene, which isn't really competitive. Most competitors on GPage 1 are shitty and no match for me. It was no problem to rank in Top5. I'm just curious because I became dangerous to the guy who ranks on #1 for a year now, which I was hunting with my rankings. He is definetely using a hidden PBN and therefor most likely knows about negative seo techniques, that's why I suspect something fishy there...

No google updates as of this month. I'm 100% sure.
There can be multiple factors

But isn't there just the option left, that someone wants to hurt my website? I didn't change anything in the past weeks content-wise.

PBN links do not work equally on all websites and all niches, an established client website with lots of authority links will benefit from few keyword rich anchor text PBN links, try the same links with a new website and it will tank (it might get a temporary boost at the beginning)

The same problem I have the last few days, all keywords and traffic dropped.
I have not seen this in the last 3 years.

My baby goods site has dropped significantly since last week. I am at my wits end.

I didn't do a thing on- or offpage in the past weeks. I've heard now from a lot people that they have the same problem. I wonder what Big-G is doing. Let's wait and see until the rankings seem to settle.

There weren't huge updates that could have caused this lately. Try double checking for changes you could have done that might lead to Google penalizing you.

Several of us on the JustStart sub reddit are seeing this too.

We're guessing the Yoast Plugin was creating many thin content posts and Google was indexing those and that is why we're seeing a drop. It's been very confusing whatever it is.

I doubt it's just Yoast, from the sites I have seen that are affected, it's more along the lines of "thin affiliate"...and thin doesn't mean low word count or short articles.

If, you have disavowed all the "Toxic" Links , i assume the rankings will be back in week or so and during the process you can try to write some more supporting articles and some good backlinks must do the job.
