Google steals over half the world's traffic

"We’ve passed a milestone in Google’s evolution from search engine to walled-garden. In June of 2019, for the first time, a majority of all browser-based searches on Google.com resulted in zero-clicks."

In a nutshell:

Over HALF of all searches performed in Google resulted in no click to the content author properties.

Google shows the content straight on the SERPs, stealing your hard work and investment.

Meanwhile the most valuable ads are shown on the SERPs as well. (5% of all searches result in ad clicks.)

Google is scraping the WWW and stealing everyone's content for their own profit.

Ironically, if you do exactly what Google does, Google will ban you!

They've been unfair to most of us for a very long time.

If you made U$ 5000 from Google traffic, you'd likely make U$ 25000 easily if Google weren't stealing your traffic.

People get happy about making U$ 5000 but back when I started in SEO you could make 10x more than today from the same effort.

Google is eating up more and more of your work every day.

We stand up against 20% taxes, so why do we give up over 55% of our traffic to a corporation. It's like being taxed 55%.

People get happy about making U$ 5000 but back when I started in SEO you could make 10x more than today from the same effort.

You don't have choice left there you use them or don't doesn't matter to them the damage has already been done.

I have a different opinion on this.
These are Google's customers. There traffic. You can't blame them for trying to increase their revenue or trying to save their customers time.

There's something called copyright. It says the person who produces content owns it.

If I scrape images and make $$$ off of it, it's my traffic. And the image authors can sue me for royalties.

Individually I need them more than they need me. Collectively if webmasters could somehow unite, Google would be gone without us. It all depends on how many people Google is able to piss off at once.

I see more and more folks who usually are pro-Google complaining.

True, but webmasters don't really have enough clout. It's only going to get resolved if governments intervene and class it as a monopoly and take action.

Time will tell.

Everything beyond this point is scary.

Google is just an MNC and yet has so much Power.
With the amount of power that guugle has, if it chooses to come up with much more strict measures, we are done.

Correct. Very concerning situation. Basically Google has taken the www over. They dictate what everyone must do. Authorities must step in. The WWW has to be much bigger than Google.

This has been going on for some time now and its increasing. I don't see why or how they would change it in our favour. Also I don't think they have any bad intention (for example to earn more money) they just wanna be more user-friendly by directly showing some results in the serps.

Unpopular opinion but I don't really see a problem with this. The bulk of google questions are simple enough not to warrant diving into a website.

Ex.) When is X, How much is X, Where is X, How far away is X.

I would be genuinely annoyed if I googled when is a holiday and I had to look into the actual web page.

If you loosing money to people just reading the SERPS try targeting content that cannot be answered in less then a paragraph or offer a service.

As far as google stealing content if a person were to find your content valuable beyond their simple search then they will defiantly click thorough. Think W3 Schools. When I google how to concatenate in sql I find my answer with out even having to go into their website but I know as a user that If I have future SQL questions I can reference their website directly.

There was a pretty big leak that dropped today. It's contents may result in the political will necessary to introduce "legislative disruption" into the search industry. I was going to dig into all 300mb of it tonight.
