I was ranking #11 for a keyword, so I bought some strong links for it and I landed on #2. A week later, there's a Google update and I go back to #11. Later, I get some strong links again and go back to #2.

And now, with this update? I went to #18.

Thanks Google, you fucking c#nt.
 
Could the negative change in my SERPs a result from the update?
I never had such a massive fall before with my keywords.
Will they recover over time? I never used PBNs ore something.

I have some YMYL sites and the April update boosted my traffic 3x. This update, however, didn't do anything, it's all the same for me, at least for now.
All I noticed yesterday was a decrease in traffic for a few hours and then it jumped up again.

My articles are on average 2k words long but the main ones are all over 3.5k. I quote a lot of studies and do a lot of research. Content is king.
 
AdWords promotion time again.

I came on here to see if there's been an update over the last few days as I'm seeing massive traffic changes over the last 10 days.
Now slightly apprehensive if I'll lose it all again...

Doesn't it indicate that you run a rat race?
You buy "strong links" spending (or wasting?) money, to enjoy a short term gain, just to falldown again, and spend (waste) money again. The race goes on...

Maybe you should reconsider your strategy (unless of course you make enough money during those spikes to cover for the expenses and make a decent profit)

that could be a great case study..

1. what tye of links you bought?
2. what were the metrics of the link?
3. were they genera or niche related
etc
 
Actually before May come , around last week of April . I noticed my site organic traffic drop quite a lot. Ask anyone is it got google update , like no one encounter. I not sure is it due to this.
yesterday check I got some keywords drop from position 1-3
funny is around mid April I got increase keywords get rank in position 1-3
 
Here we go... No drastic changes on my sites yet... I got hit by earlier update on my medical sites, I guess it's not fully deployed yet.
