Ok team we need some advice on Google Re-Consideration Request for an UN-Natural Links Penalty.

History: Yes in the past we had participated in some black hat methods, who didn't?! (not many though maybe 2 rounds of posts, bookmarking etc)

On 3/22/12 One of our BIG money EMD sites received the dreaded Un-Natural Links Penalty. Immediately after receiving the email we went to work cleaning up our back-link profile removing about 30-40% of the sites back-links which in turn watered down our high EMD anchor text. We then sent in the 1st request that came back of course denied.

Then we closed the site for about 2 weeks and performed a huge site wide re-design (we had been wanting to do this anyways and felt now was a great time), we used to be a straight up adult site with nudy pictures and now we are strictly an adult information site with absolutely no nudity using a custom built WordPress theme that is simply perfect going from about 150 pages of unique content to over 2k pages of 100% hand written unique content and we add about 10 new posts every day. After the redesign and more link clean up we requested again about 4 more times over the last 4 months and every time we get the message "denied" with no help on what to look for except the (you may have paid links or be in a link scheme) which we are not anymore.

Ok fine now we have officially taken down over 70% of our back-link profile, spent about 1k to webmasters to remove links, have not used any black or white methods at all. Every last link since the penalty started is natural mostly from our strong social following. The site has gone from 15k in back-links to only about 2k now and a couple days ago we get the same damn static message from Google spam team.... DENIED. WTF??!!!

One issue we think may be a problem is that we had about 1k or so back links from YouTube accounts that where being used to comment on videos and we where only able to take down about 60% of those by flagging our own accounts lol (we had no log-in details as a local guy was doing that part of it that is no longer around) and every time we sent the list to YouTube we get no reply at all. So we still have about 300 links/accounts from Youtube which unfortunately now is showing as the #1 linking site to us since we have removed so many links ;(

We have no idea what to do next as it is getting ready to come up on 6months of being in the penalty. We can not start over as the domain cost us 6 figures and we have a pretty decent social following and we are #1 all over the place in Yahoo and Bing. We feel as though Google is not giving us a fair review because of the industry we are in maybe?... as we have spent 1000's of man hours trying to make things right and all we get from the Google spam team team no matter how much we do is the same bullshit static reply.

So our question is what do you guys think, what would you do, what have your experiences been?

Build a second site targeting thesame keywords as a stand alone separate site of to drive traffic to your main site.

We had thought of that but was told that is frowned upon by Google... (doorway pages)

Include details of what you believe to be the problem and clarify exactly why you are unable to remove them in your reconsideration.

Be ruthless with anything questionable - if there is anything that could be remotely classed as a scheme (fellow 'adult' sites linking to one another, etc.)

What is 'industry standard' may still be anti TOS.

One question we have is a lot of people are saying well the penalty will drop after 6months so just dilute anchor text and get rid of a large portion of spammy links and all should be ok.
Does this time frame work for UN-natural links penalty or does anyone know yet?

How far down the serp did g relegate your site?

Some are reporting that diluting anchors with generic click here, great website, raw url ect is working but if it is penguin it may need a refresh before you see any improvement.

If you're talking about a link penalty (where you get a message in your WMT) becoming expired - apparently 'yes' it will (eventually) but, if the issue is still there it will automatically whack you again, if identified algorithmically to then get a manual review (the penalties with a WMT message are 'manual'). You might get a fortnight or a few months - but if the issue is still there chances are it could happen again.

The six month penalty is speculation as each site may have a different level of manual penalty applied to it. But removing links and not submitting a reconsideration request has 0 impact in my experiement. The penalty will either have to be removed by a Google employee or expire.

You could 404 existing webpages if you have not done so. But deconstructing sites is a complete waste of time in my opinion. That time is better spent on adding content/pages which are not penalized and spreading quality links across your entire property. This way when the penalty does expire you find yourself rankings towards the top and not 5 or 10 pages back.

    Good luck
