How many articles did you publish on the new site every day?I’m also wondering about this myself. I have 2 old sites over 8yrs old all hand-written, no issues.
However, I started 2 new websites purely on AI content (GPT4) and both are also doing fine. One of the new site is over 1yr old while the other just 1-2 months old and is using an expired domain, articles which I published on the newer site on the 26th of February is currently ranking 1-10 and 20-50 on SERP.
I don’t believe Google penalized AI contents solely on them being AI generated, I believe it’s about the quality of the AI content and the usefulness of it all.
None of this was because content was AI generated. None of our clients were affected, and at least half saw increases especially in local SEO.
This update was about low quality content that wasn't helpful, something I've been saying for years.
If all you're doing is firing up ChatGPT or whatever OpenAI wrapper you like and copying and pasting content then of course you're going to get hit.
But if you are actually working on your pages and focusing on information gain ***even for mass pages like what we do*** you'll be just fine or in even better position than before.
The penalty is NOT on quality of content... It is rather based on authority of the site and special deals with Google. Look at quora or reddit.
Sometimes you get poor quality article in top 10 just because it is published on "strong" website like forbes or other "know" about everything website.
Almost all my aged & authority sites are tanked. They are all whitehat, some of them have AI content, some of them have writers. But entertainment niches got hit the worse. I have no choice but to fire my long-term writers and go completely AI at this point. (they were already hit hard with the September HCU, but this one completely hammered it).

A small website I own, had mostly AI content from the previous owner. Completely de-indexed...

So, I have one of those "still indexed but lost practically all rankings" sites.
I cannot submit pages to manually index (they are not deindexed yet, but I tested this just to see what would happen).
Sometimes I reload a serp page and my site appears back in number 1 spot, most of the time this doesnt happen at all.
I really dont know what to think, normally sites jumping around in updates aint that crazy, but google added the right
level of colorful language / propaganda in this one to make things feel so out of place.
This site has used AI to help with the content but it is heavily manually edited, it isnt an ai spam site in the pure sense.......
Not much black hat was used on it, the only traits I think it has that other sites dont, is fast growth in traffic and was doing around
1.5 posts a day..... which even before AI wasnt that crazy of a number. It is also extremely young, but on a fresh domain.

It is "SEO ed" in the sense that it answers search questions related to the business....... but how the heck else do you create content if google will
force you to tip toe around so hard?
Selling christmas trees? welp, guess you cant answer how much they cost, make a buyers guide, compare it to artificial ones etc etc etc
because that would mean you are creating content to attract clicks on search for your business........ go fuck yourself google.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That being said, and maybe im coping, but the way I see some sites behaving without manual penalties etc, sort of reminds me of
october through nov when many pages were disappearing from the top 100 and by the end of the 2 months, most everything for my sites
returned back to normal and I stopped following it. So maybe this is just some errors that will self correct?
Or maybe this is them refining last years efforts to kill small businesses.
Was helping a family friend make their first site (pure white hat and hand written with their own eeat) It just reached 1k visits in a whole month.....
today, it cant be found for any keyword without directly using its name.
no manual penalty has appeared yet?
100% ai content
I was hit and i used IA just for the 100 first videos now I'm trying to recover
Agree...another move from G clea
same to for some very old affiliate sites with some 90.000 HUMAN WRITTEN content ... like top quality content...
like all content was written by experience natives... good content.
well, so it goes. mainstream medias and high da will survivce, "small" bloggers gone.
well, time to pack it up. unless you got 50 employees, no sense anymore.
SEO is dead.
Oh dear oh dear... You are so naive. Google expands partnership with Reddit. https://blog.google/inside-google/company-announcements/expanded-reddit-partnership/Completely disagree. Those parasite pages got hit too. Quora and reddit I'm 100% sure got their affected algo manually turned up a bit. However, they are losing some of the rankings they once had now.
In my porn site was simple description 100 words but It was detectableGuys,
Your content was pure AI and detectable, or modified with some tools and detectable as 100% human?
If you would've read my post you'd know that's exactly what I was saying, they got some in the algo tuned up for them.Oh dear oh dear... You are so naive. Google expands partnership with Reddit. https://blog.google/inside-google/company-announcements/expanded-reddit-partnership/
They have special treatment from mr G ... keep dreaming.
Right now, I'm not keeping count, but starting from the 25th of February to the present, I've published 32 Articles. I'm a family man; this is just my side stuff. Some days, I publish 2-3, and other days, I don't. I plan to get 100 articles within a month and then start link building. I applied for Adsense and within 6hrs, it was approved. How many articles did you publish on the new site every day?

I partly agree with what you said. I agree about AI articles; like I said, it's the usefulness of the article that matters most. HOWEVER, Big G used this update to show more love to the BIGGIES out there, high DA sites. I think G wants to kill off many small bloggers.
I'm building 2 new sites, purely on AI-generated articles + Grammarly + human editing + AI images + COFFEE; I haven't submitted it to GA yet, but both sites are already ranking. so we'll see how this will all go.
I'll probably add a few more websites in the next few weeks.
In other news, my 8-9yr old health-related site that I thought was hit is actually getting more clicks now than before even with 50% impressions gone since the update. I haven't worked or updated ANYTHING on the site for over 2 years. I don't what gives...
Actually after doing more research, my site had little to no ai content. The reason it got hit is because it was a PAA type site (I bought this from someone, it had nice traffic)Guys,
Your content was pure AI and detectable, or modified with some tools and detectable as 100% human?
Seriously man... don't waste time on it. How much you make at the moment? Think about value for money of what you do. How much time it costs you? Is it worth it?Right now, I'm not keeping count, but starting from the 25th of February to the present, I've published 32 Articles. I'm a family man; this is just my side stuff.
