It is true, but simply adding "my site name:" in the meta title isn't something that Google does. The problem lies somewhere inside the website for sureGoogle like to rewrite meta titles and descriptions : https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-rewrites-meta-descriptions-over-70-of-the-time/382140/
Thanks for the reply, I've got a plug-in for one of the sites so ill look into that, and for both sites the title is showing correctly in the Html. You have to check the theme to see where the meta title is generated. If you have an SEO plugin, maybe that is where the issue is. If not, maybe add an SEO plugin and try to force the meta title change through the plugin. It then takes a considerable time for google to actually index the changes but it should work
The descriptions are showing correct it's just the titles. The titles did work fine, it's just when I put my "site name" at the end with a - instead of | its just moved it to the start of my title.Google like to rewrite meta titles and descriptions : https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-rewrites-meta-descriptions-over-70-of-the-time/382140/
Thanks for the reply I've messed with a few things and fixed one of the sites now. Not sure how I did it though. They probably rewrote it and modified it, as this happens sometimes. Maybe try to use a different plugin or to change them manually in the HTML file, so that you try to force it somehow to show titles that you wanted to add.
