Well, that was a good read.
Interesting and not surprising, i remember a thread not too long about about firefox making yahoo default search engine and many members saying things like 'ignore the hype they can never touch google' blah blah. I remember commenting saying they will make a dent.
And im glad they are because i seem to rank very well on yahoo. im not sure why, but i don't use a pbn, i don't purchase backlinks and i don't over optimize any content, everything i do on the sites that are ranking well in yahoo has been done 100% naturally.
If you think people moving away from Google is a huge move then wait for around another 6 months when everyone also realizes that people have moved away from desktops for accessing the internet.

It depends on the niche, some niches people can't really look at on their phones out in public. One of my adult sites gets like 90% pc and 10% mobile.
that's cute, not sure if half percent growths are really matter though and if we are thinking in tendencies, here's just two which will help Google to sustain their hegemony against Yahoo or anybody for that matter:For those of you who never saw a WWW without Google controlling it, maybe this is your chance. It used to be a lot more fun
Google's search share has fallen below 75% for the first time since 2008, according to statistics from StatCounter.
The US market drop is a stark reflection of Yahoo's small but notable resurgence, as well as Bing's bold attempts to stay in the game. Together, the search engines are chipping away at Google's 10-year dominance and clawing back percentages.
Jan. 2015 saw Yahoo take back search share for two consecutive months: it has risen from 10.4% in December to 10.9% in the new year. It marks a significant growth. In November, Yahoo's stake stood at just 8.6%. It's good news for CEO Marissa Mayer, who made Yahoo's search functionality one of the main areas to improve. It seems this part of her plan is working.
Bing's growth is less decisive, but worth mentioning. From Dec. 2014 to January this year, its share has dropped by 0.1%, but the company has seen its search share rise from 12.1% to 12.4% overall.

that's cute, not sure if half percent growths are really matter though and if we are thinking in tendencies, here's just two which will help Google to sustain their hegemony against Yahoo or anybody for that matter:
1. mobile only gets stronger and stronger, the global android market share is increasing (~75%), windows mobile market share is decreasing (~5%) which already wasn't too much to begin with
2. firefox usage decreases, chrome usage increases even on desktop (if we agree that the main reason behind Yahoo's sudden market share increase was caused by Firefox switching default search engines)
Google is just too big by now to be afraid of anybody, they are a lot more than just a search engine, they can afford such investments that almost nobody could do before, they're planning to bring internet with project http://www.google.com/loon/ to the rest of the world where there were no internet access before, which is the 2/3rd of the world's population, you can imagine what will happen when this becomes reality, you can take your bets who will profit the most from this, that won't be Yahoo, Google is thinking on a much bigger scale
Google is here to stay, not going anywhere, especially not down
They should change their algorithms back to how used it be. Obviously putting big brands on page one and trying to force every other fucker to PPC isn't working.
