Today we released the June 2026 spam update to Google Search.

This is a normal spam update, and it will roll out for all languages and locations. The rollout may take a few days to complete. More information about spam updates can be found over here.

It's a global update and targets sites violating some of the Google search spam policies.

If you were hit by this, Google said you should review its spam policies to ensure they are complying with those. Google will do periodic refreshes to the spam update. It can take many months to recover, Google said.

I appreciate the info on the rollout. It's nice to see the hard work of keeping search results clean. I'll check our metrics over the next few days. If any of you are looking at your analytics, don't change anything drastically until the rollout is complete.

Almost everyone on X is complaining about the update as Google released 2 consecutive updates in May and June.

Moreover, they constantly improve this update and notify them simply as spam updates. Google says that in case of a link spam update (an update that specifically deals with link spam), they'll nullify the ranking benefits of spam links and making any changes won't recover the lost rankings. So, there will definitely be some noise here in BHW when they release link spam updates.

the back to back updates are probably why so many people are frustrated right now. feels like everyone is still trying to figure out the impact of the last one

Thanks for the heads up.

People have been reporting more drastic fluctuations for at least two weeks now. I have seen similar.

I thought it was post-Core update fix, but rather looks like it was foreplay of this one.

not gonna lie, every time google announces one of these updates i tell myself not to check rankings, then i end up refreshing search console all day anyway
I don't give a damn about these updates but here I am checking my search console at 3 A.M. :D

I guess all of us are alike. We try to ignore these updates but they play in our minds like a song on a loop.

The best thing to do during any rollout is to stay patient and avoid making major changes too early. I have seen sites fluctuate during updates and recover once things settle. Its usually better to wait for the rollout to finish before deciding what actually needs fixing.

Howver the ful impact will be determined only after the entire process is implemnted. the main issue is whether google is tryig to eliminate obviou spam or is also attempting to devalue gud link practices

Updates now a days are very common. I want to know who sees every updates of Google. I am from Hummingbird (2013) time.

Nothing surprising spam updates hit low quality links & over optimized sites first, if rankings drop it's usually backlinks or thing content causing it, best move clean up spam keep content natural & wait for the next refresh

Spam update generally do not have any impact except revealing poor link building and over optimization of pages. It is always gud to be patient until the roll out hapen since most site see a dip in ranking just because there was a problem initially.

What an awesome last 60 days... /s
It's like an earthquake during a lockdown :D

Interesting thing is that they'll do a series of updates with the help of AI and user data. We should see how it turns out to be in the coming days.
