Can Direct Traffic mean something else or just mislabeled?

I run a website about commercial real estate in one metropolitan area of the United States. There is a blog posts that basically talks about changes in land use regulations in one of the cities in this region. So, this stuff is not for everyone. Only people in the same industry and location would be interested.

Lately, this post been getting a lot of Direct Traffic all of a sudden. All visitors are from US but different cities.

I havent promoted the post, so it can't be paid traffic.

I'm a little puzzled by what's going on .

Can anyone think of some explanation why a random posts get a lot of Direct visits ?

Probably being directed towards your blog by search engines. People search for the necessary keywords. That's what's up.

Wouldn't it be classified as organic traffic though ?

Search Engines would show in GA as organic. People who might have bookmarked your site would show up as direct or has the direct link and put in the search bar
