Hello, don't have experience with VPS hosting or linux commands but I guess learning a few commands won't be that hard.

Going with free digital ocean and was looking at free control panel like cyberpanel but people say it has security flaws. This https://www.reddit.com/r/webhosting/comments/njnk4g/cyberpanel_review_rant/ shows it does have security flaws.

Need a free / trial for 30 days control panel.

Please suggest.

NB: for some reason oracle does not accept the card and oracle suddenly deletes site or charges randomly as per some reviews online, so free oracle free tier is out of the option.

you can use Centos Web panel, they have a free version and a Paid version as well which costs only $12 USD for a year or $1.49 USD for a month
 
I am using Centos Web Panel too.
Do not see why people should use CPanel, etc.

I'm familiar with cpanel too. It's a bit easy for non techy persons like me xD Later will use managed panel for this project.


Btw any free/30 day trial alternative like Plesk? Plesk seems no hassle

It was renamed to Control-WebPanel.
 
I try installation with WordOps it is a slim panel , but after my installation my panel login (hostname) has no ssl.
My domain has ssl but not my panel hostname.

Can not get it to work- any tips what is wrong here with WordOps?
 
CyberPanel by LiteSpeed, works great with WordPress, they have their cache plugin LSCache which makes your site super fast with the panel.
 
yes it is ok and easy to use but it can not compare to nginx on a vps (without apache).

But it's not for newbie who dont know linux and how to set up VPS Like me its free Yeah But i cant manage it
 
Yes I have really problems using my mac terminal trying to install cloudpanel ona vm machine.
after insert my sshrrot and password all is fine...

then set this cloudpanel install command: apt update && apt -y upgrade && apt -y install curl wget sudo
after that whaammm ! Lots of erros coming up in the terminal like this;


E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
W: Problem unlinking the file /var/cache/apt/pkgcache.bin - RemoveCaches (13: Permission denied)
W: Problem unlinking the file /var/cache/apt/srcpkgcache.bin - RemoveCaches (13: Permission denied)

I tired of this sick crap tech.
Can not install a vps panel. I do not know how to remove these files who lock me.
What the hell is this ?

Any tips here to fix this for future terminal commands ?
When I not get tips here to fix this, I will use nginx webhosting and not spend my time and energy on setup vm machines and all the crap with ssh terminal commands.

unable to lock files...
then when you have ssh keys it not works because any ssh client will ask you for a password you not have.
(most people not set password when they create ssh keys)

Really ,who is spending time, life energy and money on this crap?
 
Same errors with another mac terminal

maybe;
a) it's hard coded in all ssh clients ?
b) only ubuntu 22.04 has these errors ?

any tips to fix this ?
 
DirectAdmin is my friend. Super compatible with Litespeed server. It is $24 per year till next year. Better lock in the old price now.

I ditched cPanel a few years ago and never had a single reason looking back to that expensive BS.

Look into HestiaCP. Completely free and open source and very easy to install on any VPS. Easy to manage multiple websites/domains and has quick install for apps like WordPress and Drupal. DM me if you need help with it.

Declare sudo before you run an install. Your command should start with [I]sudo[/I]

Sudo temporarily elevates your user access to an administrative level root-user - and thus is necessary for working with files and directories not owned by your user.

To do this you have to declare the elevation before and not at the end, like you seem to have done.

drewly; I like Hestia panel but set it up with cloudflare to get ddos protection and ssl for my domain is tricky, you must create CF ssl then insert those keys in the Hestia server template to get ssl for the hostname.
Then create in Hestia Let's encrypt ssl for my main domain.
But nginx without apache is much much faster. And I not like CF, when I change my nameservers the ionos email hosting will not work after that. (my domain is at ionos) , so I must buy email hositng for $10 a year (namecheap) , to make this work.

I will try it again.
Now I read these tutorials for editing config file in ssh;
Now I understand why my nano command was not working.

Not many nginx web hosting providers out there...(without apache).
But forvps DDOS protection Ibe forced to use a cdn or cloudflare whichI not like, when I change the nameservers my (ionos) email hosting will not work after that.
