Giving up US citizenship soon

So let me get this clear.... There is a way to became state less???????????

You just give up a citizenship without gaining another one bUT it's not worth it unless the visa fees are cheaper than tax savings. For example just a UK visa is 1050 euros for 10 years with stays up to 6 months at a time. A Candia one is 100 CAD for a stay up to 6 months. There is also a multi entry visa for schengen area for about 100 euros for a year.

Some non schengen countries also use the schengen visa as well.

There are people that have done it without a second passport and the US state department even mentions on their site it's allowed.

Travel advice in the 1980s used to be to boil tap water before drinking. After a couple of weeks of doing this you will be able to tolerate the tap water.

IIRC, my science teacher said something to do with different types of bacteria in the gut upsetting each other. After a couple of weeks the bacteria you had are killed off and then there's nothing to upset the ones present in the local tap water. I'm not sure I believe that explanation but the advice definitely worked. Never had diarrhea from drinking tap water anywhere and I've been to places similar to North Africa.

I still follow this advice and so don't buy bottled water - just boil for a couple of weeks and then start drinking tap water. Hopefully, it will work for you as well.
.

The real problem in the city tap water is pipe networks made of dangerous materials. Boiling such water doesn't solve that.

Which dangerous materials will give you diarrhea?

Certain heavy metals can make you stupid. Some of the older pipes use lead.

This is still the case in many parts of Europe. I know for fact it's still the case there's still lead piping in the UK system. Usually the part between the road and the house. My parents had this section replaced 10 years ago. Most people don't bother. I doubt the situation is different elsewhere in Europe.

I made a suggestion about avoiding diarrhea. That's why I asked which dangerous metals will cause it.

Anyway, most likely scientists (as usual) plucked a number out of the air and said this is a safe level and this is not. I bet the real safe of lead (at least) level is much higher than the safe recommended level.

I really hate taxes here in the US but I hate the city of Portland taxes even more. I just moved away but there you have to pay an annual arts tax and if you have a business, an annual bus tax (even if you don't ride the bus). Also a county business tax and an annual state tax. You have to get a license for your cat (which is basically a cat tax). It is pretty ridiculous and even after paying all those taxes, the roads are messed up and the schools aren't great.

haha did u escape the US yet? I wish I could. The mentality of people around here sometimes boggles the mind :p

You are still stepping into EU borders mate :) Not advisable at all.
I suggest Macedonia, country bordering Bulgaria and Greece, yet not a EU member. Taxes here are low, compering to all EU members (and US).
You might even skip them if you like, no one is forcing you to pay them (in terms of personal taxes).

The EU isn't that bad, it's just some of the west and northern ones that give the bad rep when it comes to taxes. SeverAL of the eastern ones have flat taxes as low as 10%.

Try cancer instead of diarrhea.
Okay. I guess you're talking about asbestos water pipes then I'd agree that there's a risk but it's still the case these things are installed all over the world. Just like lead pipes. It's a case of making an informed decision about the risk. Each person will have a different level of risk (s)he is willing to tolerate.

Nevertheless these are things which are much more difficult to mitigate anywhere.

Many homes built before 1986 in America contain lead pipes still.

I think the goal is to live in a country, pay due taxes without the feeling of being ripped off.
Now I do believe that when someone from BHW is seriously considering moving to another country, it means something.
We are not greedy bastards. We love making money and we know how we are making that money. We understand the way money is handled between businesses and corporations in most case. So it's quite easy to understand that one doesn't want to pay taxes that will in fact, just pay the debt/deficit our country has been in. That debt that will be paid to better money maker than us.
So yes we have the feeling of being ripped off because the money won't come back to the population nor public services but to some higher corporation/(insert your conspiracy)/bank.

There is, thanks god, countries that provide high quality of life: nice weather, enjoyable food, some culture/architecture, nice women. But it's rare and comes with a price.

Anyway, I understand how he wants to give up on his nation. I have been living in Los Angeles for a year, and beside all the money there is to made, the city is really fucked up. The food is gross, the tax is ridiculously high, the pollution is unbearable to me, and people are really not nice. I have been in a village in deep France for 8 months now and it feels great. Good food, no pollution, and the few old people living around are lovely. But I'm moving anyway, because of the tax, because i'm being ripped off too.

I want to be able to say that I'm proud of where my taxes go but it's not the case. So I'm making my plan to move. In 2 weeks i'll settle in Valencia, Spain for a few months and see how it goes.
We have the BEST advantage on the world : We make money with a computer and an internet connection. So unless you're living the best life ever, have a family, or a really good excuse, I don't see any reason whhy you should not move around the world, discover new cultures and make money at the same time.

You guys are wrecking my dream to move and live in the US. lol. US can't be that bad.

I know so many people around my circle who moved to the US for a better living, better employment opportunities. The country is so big and so much to do in it. The global modern culture is based on American media. Everything we see are American made. Top paid doctors live and work in the US. Major of the brain drain which my shit country is experiencing is all the bright minds are flocking to the US. It's makes sense. Even I would move their in a heart beat.

Was browsing Facebook random people I "know". It's funny they all act so patriotic yet they live in the US. Lol, I love to be patriotic too if I wasn't living here. I feel for people who make a living by working for companies, US is the ideal and best place. There are taxes for a reason I rather pay tax in a Western nation then the hell I'm living in. There is so much freedom as well in the US. There aren't people to judge you. You live the way you want.

But the taxes don't benefit people over a certain income. For example what did John Templeton lose when he gave up citizenship to save $100,000,000 in taxes
