Getting traffix from Twitter Trends/Hashtag

I read some article saying you can tweet trend/hashtag with your link to get traffic, but my testing is any tweet with link will not show up in trend/hashtag search, so it can not get any traffic at all.

Any body know how to use twitter trend/hashtag to get traffic? please let me know. I need your help.
