I had a cookie notice banner on my sites, but google emailed saying the message wording was not good enough for gdpr compliance and they asked for it to be fixed or action could be taken.
Now in terms of adsense they have their own GDPR message which can be used to get consent to show personalized ads which is ok but this message is a bit restricted in terms of customization.
So I have tried to use third party wordpress plugins. The problem with these is that the features which are actually necessary are then sold only as premium features.
One of these is consent logging.
So the question is do you really need to store and keep user consents for gdpr compliance for small-to-medium blogs with ads?
Another question:
You show the user a GDPR message and they press REJECT button. Which I would take to mean that they do not consent to PERSONALIZED ads, fine, so we dont show them these. But I noticed that after this NO ADS are shown at all. Why is this?
Surely you have a right to show atleast NON-PERSONALIZED ads on your own site, as we arent asking users for permission to show ads, we only asking if they are ok with use using their cookie data to show them more relevant ads based on sites theyve visitied and browsing habits/history.
