    Helloooo,

I'm looking for a freelancer to create a Microsoft Excel Visual Basic Macro Function. ;)

    Here are the specifications :

Should run on MS Excel 2007.

I have lines looking like this :

SEPARATOR words group1 SEPARATOR words group2 SEPARATOR words group3 SEPARATOR words group4 SEPARATOR words group5 SEPARATOR words group6 ?etc

    or like this

something...SEPARATOR words group1 SEPARATOR words group2 SEPARATOR words group3 SEPARATOR words group4 SEPARATOR words group5 SEPARATOR words group6 ?etc

SEPARATOR can be a single character (example : $) or many characters (example : > --- >) or a word (example : category) so SEPARATOR must be configurable for a given document (not for each line)

SEARCHED-WORD is a word or a group of words, configurable for a given document (not for each line) (example SEARCHED-WORD could be "home" or it could be "rent a car" depending on what is searched)

The macro function should return a dropdown of every possible "word group" containing the SEARCHED-WORD for every line.

    Example :
    SEPARATOR : ZZZ
    SEARCHED-WORD : rent

Cell A1 : ZZZ shopping ZZZ skying ZZZ rent a car ZZZ snowboarding ZZZ how to rent ZZZ buisness ZZZ -> Macro function should create a dropdown with the items "rent a car" and "how to rent" in cell B1 as an example (target cell should be configurable)
Cell A2 : ????? ZZZ shopping ZZZ skying ZZZ rent a car ZZZ snowboarding ZZZ rental ZZZ buisness ZZZ????? -> Macro should create a dropdown with the items "rent a car" and "rental" in cell B2 as an example (target cell should be configurable)

So actually in B1 and B2 I would like to call a Visual Basic function, example : create-dropdown with two parameters (separator, searched-word), so in this case created-dropdown("ZZZ","rent")

I'll send you two distinct files so you can make sure your script is working.

PM me if you think you can do this in the next 8 hours.

    Cheers,

Im not sure - VB6 I could have done it a doddle.

Thing is - did someone do it for you? Just out of interest?

Nope no one did. One guy tried to get the money without showing any proof of competency though... lol

So I just made an excel solution with like 40 columns full of sh*tty formulas. It's doing the trick but it's a pain to modify for future use...

    Cheers,

If you still want this, pm me the docs and i'll get the basics knocked up for you (free).

This can be done with ~10 lines of code so i doubt its worth paying for!
