Wordpress has some not bad security plugins that can protect your site from bots, malware, etc. Wordfence and a few other ones are not bad. Make sure you update all plugins and wordpress itself constantly.

No, it does not affect google, unless you add google as a search engine to block.

Just one question man, how this plugin blocks crawlers from .htaccess or robots? and how are you sure is effective?
Also do you know Spyglass bot name? Since it does not show on list!

Tired it and it works.
Make sure you add it to your money site before adding your PBN sites. If you dont it takes a while for the PBN sites to disappear from ahrefs.com, seo majestic, etc.

Why block access to Majestic et. at. to your PBN sites at all?
Adjusting .htaccess seems easiest and safest.

Nobody is going to go into detail about negative SEO here, but it's basically any attempt by your competitor to harm your site and reduce its rankings.
