Hi,

is there a free (or very very affordable) way to turn my hostgator hosted website to a https website with a SSL certification?

Cause I get google messages saying I need https when asking for password/credit card data...

Thanks

Beg

Yeah @littlewebdragon thats right, but it needs to be renewed every 90 days. Hostgator takes a fee of $10 for it every 90 days....

it is there in cloudflare. you can use it for free.

Is $12 a year unreasonable? If you're paying $7 for an article then I'd say a legit SSL is worth it.

You can use let's encrypt and do it yourself every 90 days. You don't have to pay for it. I use zerossl.com.

Lets encrypt can be autorenewed if you can install a script on the server. Also folks have gotten letsencrypt to work on shared hosting.

I think tonight I'm going to put together a guide on free SSL on shared hosting.
