you could barter some free dental work....
There are 2 ways to deal with this :
1) Ask the client to get WHOIS Privacy. Considering the client is spending thousands a year on SEO .. he can surely put $20 into this.
2) This is the technique used by most of the expert SEO :
What you do here is .. instead of getting backlinks to the client website directly .. you first setup 4-5 blogs of your own with the same targeted keywords. You do the SEO for your blogs. Once you have a very good PR .. you 301 redirect to the clients website.
All the PR juice goes to the client .. and then you just do some basic backlink building for the client website and bookmarking etc etc
This is also the reason why .. websites with just 50 backlinks are able to rank #1 for very competitive keywords ..outranking websites with thousands of backlinks.
Another advantage of this technique is .. if the client stops paying later ..you just remove the redirect and the client sees a nice fall in the traffic and comes running back to you![]()
FAO ? What is FAO ?
Yes, you have to self-host these blogs.. no wordpress, blogger blogs .. your own .coms and .nets.
If you really want to do the way it should be done ..then you need to create a nice link wheel. A small example would be :
a) 5 self-hosted blogs - linking to money site
b ) 15 free blogs ( blogger etc ) - linking to self-hosted blogs ( 3 per 1 self-hosted blog)
c) Social bookmarking, link building ( to the free blogs ), RSS feed submissions etc - All for just the free blogs
d) Last step - Build links to the bookmarks and profile links, scrapebox links etc
You will get a rough estimate of the setup now. ofcourse you cannot redirect blogger blogs etc.
#2 is a great method though it can be quite time consuming.
#1 isn't foolproof since someone with a site will most likely have contact details on the site anyway.
Let's say that the 5 self hosted blogs are now fully backlinked and seo'd, how do you do the redirect? Do you 301 redirect from the homepage? So that no content at all is available on each one of these self hosted blogs? Or do you do something else? After all 5 different 301 redirects to one site will look quite weird? Don't you think?
In this case I am not using a 301 redirect yet. There is one more layer of websites between the 5 blogs and the money site.
I am only sending backlinks from these 5 blogs to my money site. The 5 blogs here are actually just a 1 page domains with no extra backlinks .. just one page with a nice article. Embed a link to the money site from these 5 domains to get the PR juice.
Motive here is to get the PR. For highly competitive sites we want PR. If you domain is not strong .. you CANNOT rank 1 for that term. If your domain is strong .. you can rank for literally any keyword you wish. Examples of website with strong domains - Seomoz, searchengineland, twitter, mashable, gizmodo.
They write any article ( even if it is not related to their niche ) ..they will rank for it ( for awhile atleast ). So, using this simple method ..you empower your domain first. and then you build that domain to rank for various keywords.
