Hi everyone!) I continue to introduce the BHW audience to telegram)))
What is floodwait?
A floodwait is a temporary ban on a particular account. It usually occurs because a user has performed or attempted to perform the same type of actions too often.
What can floodwait apply to?
Telegram can impose a temporary restriction on any type of operation. Most often, floodwaites are issued for the following actions:
-Logging into an account.
-Adding new contacts to the account.
-Assigning or changing account username.
-Creating new groups or channels, or editing existing ones (adding new admins, changing/assigning public links, changing the set of available reactions, etc.).
-Sending messages, especially to public groups or private chats with non-contacts.
-Sending reactions to messages.
-Clicking links, including search results.
-Navigating between private messages within a chat room.
Am I sure I have a floodwait?
Unfortunately, Telegram doesn't have a way to accurately determine if an account has a floodwait. There is no such bot to ask “Do I have any floodwait?”.
Typically, a temporary ban has the following signs:
When attempting to perform an action, the application displays an error message and requires you to wait. Sometimes it reports a specific wait time.
Changes made are not applied or are automatically rolled back after the application is restarted.
Messages are not sent despite a stable Internet connection, and a clock icon is displayed next to them instead of the delivery check mark.
Sometimes (for example, when trying to log in to your account), the Telegram X app may inform you that a floodgate is in effect for your account and even show you exactly how many minutes it will last.
What should I do if I get a floodwait?
To get rid of a floodwait, you need to stop trying to do something you can't do for a while.
Fludveit almost never lasts more than a day. As a rule, depending on the type of operation, a floodgate lasts from one minute to several hours.
Authorization is a separate case: if the application says “Too many attempts, try again later” when logging into your account, you have to wait exactly 24 hours.
Telegram does not disclose information about the criteria by which it determines that a user performs operations too often, nor does it set strict limits on the use of its services. The reason is that these criteria and limits are determined individually for each user, and it is impossible to calculate an exact figure.
If you repeat the same actions over and over again, new floodwaites can last longer and longer.
Sometimes the floodgate won't take effect if you log into the account in another app, such as through web.telegram.org, or on a different device. But usually that doesn't help.
