Question: Does anyone know if it really makes a significant difference to drive traffic to your YouTube video in the first 24h it's up?

Well from the point of view of Youtube it does. A video that gets much views in a short time can be seen as amazing or potential viral, therefore the Youtube-Algorithm is going to show the video to more people.

More Views -> More Money for Youtube. It seems logic that youtube favors videos that receive a high amount of views in a short time.
