Facebook Page "ghosting"

A quick question to all Facebook marketers. I have several Facebook pages in highly competitive niches that used to bring in dozens of new "organic likes" every day. Over the last couple of weeks, that number has dropped off significantly across all pages. Only thing I can think of is affiliate links in the page description and the posts that are on the pages. Anybody else have similar experiences? No other pages are/or seem to be directly competing with me. It's just strange how it happened to all my properties at the same time.

I have noticed some changes in my personal page that would hint at some kind of "ghosting" with relation to subject matter that Facebook finds undesirable.

as far as traffic coming in?

my pages literally went from dozens of new likes a day to 0

You kept you pages active right? If no, then I only can think this is about the edgerank, but maybe it's not..

The Facebook Mafia doesn't care if you make money, they just want their cut. It's called "Promoted posts."

you know, the pages are active. I've been primarily just sharing other niche related posts from other pages to generate my content on these properties. Every now and again, I would share some clickbank products.... that's about it as far as "SPAM" is related. These are not spammy niches... I mean we're talking about health related info, and learning related info here.

But again, so perhaps this is to do with dropping clickbank affiliate links?

Anybody else notice this with affiliate monitized pages?

I'm guessing that Facebook now wants you to buy ads if you want to do any kind of marketing on their platform.

My organic "likes" all stopped at the same time.... so not sure if it's applied to a user profile or on a page by page basis.

Anybody else have something to contribute here?

FB's edgerank algorithm got very complex in time. These days, you could post like 6 times a day on your page, and consider you keep it active. But if your audience isn't responsive within a certain criteria, like let's say 7000 people saw you posts, and when you should get like 600-1,5k likes, you would get only 100 or maximum 200 likes. I don't suggest that this could be your problem, but maybe it is, I don't know exactly. In other words, FB can detect if the content you provide to your audience is quality or not, therefore there is set a certain rate about your activity which is adjusted by their system towards future updates you will be making. So you could call it 'ghosting' or 'ill edgerank'.. but basically I don't know what I should tell you to recover from this, unless keep posting and try to introduce a few non-monetized posts as well that could be shareable or go viral on their own.

That's actually very helpful. Thanks for the input. I'll have to do some testing with various kinds of posts.

The cause could be by users flagging your posts and or page as spam.

Could be, but all posts are of a helpful nature to the niches I'm in, and affiliate link posts are very seldom, and again helpful to my targeted fan base. Of course some occasional prick could always flag for any number of reasons.

They haven't been ghosting links from my Facebook pages but they have been limiting my posts on fans Facebook timelines.

Say you have 100k fans, and 50k are online when you post, only 10k will have the post show up on their timeline.

Well from the kinds of niches you have been discussing i dont think your users would have flagged it or marked spam, madruga's point makes sense because facebook keeps on bringing new updates that are confusing. :/

just updates. When a platform gets bigger, you wouldn't get the same amount of attention after awhile.
