I’d personally go with a group if the main goal is building a real community. Pages are great for posting content and getting reach, but groups usually get better discussions and engagement. You can also use both together if possible.

I agree. Since the audience is niche, I think starting with a group would be the better choice. It will help build a stronger community and encourage people to interact and share their experiences. A page can always be added later for more organized content and updates.
