Big companies don't have your best interests in mind.

There are other marketplaces to distribute your app, but the biggest ones are all controlled by huge companies - Amazon, Apple, Samsung etc.

You could teach people to sideload your app, but it requires explaining and will hurt your adoption level.

So you either play by Google/Apple's rules, or you find another way to deliver your app.

IMO ppl rely on apps as the end all, be all - when modern browsers/mobile sites can do a lot of what an app is able to do (app functionality-wise, not so much gaming).
