Dear I need the opinion from an expired domain expert.
So let me explain: I found a domain with good metrics and excellent backlinks, but all the backlinks are of a different niche than the niche for which I will have to build the site. I will have to create an ecommerce but the domain has backlinks regarding the travel niche.

look for your feedback

Update Data: I checked now on archive and it was "digital tech" ecommerce. My Ecommerce will be one general ecommerce, I will sell to b2b (hygiene supplies, hotel supplies,...) Can I go to it?

You can go for it but make sure to build some very good authority links (niche relevant guest posting perhaps) related to your niche in near future. Do not stop building HQ links just because it already has links. That way old links will get diluted with time and you will have a good authority domain.

Yeah, do check if the backlinks are spammy. Spammy backlinks are definitely going to hurt.

Not an expert, but the way I see it, why not setup both niches? Sort of like walmart lures people in with discounts in all of the popular stuff but once their there, BAM, you can buy everything else. I.E. dont destroy the existing infrastructure build around it

Most likely a local site or the backlinks are mostly from directories and other low quality sites. Also, I am pretty sure it will be low RD.

And I will bet 1K EUR it was abused as PBN before. Nowadays you have to go through 100 "good looking" domains to get 1 that's clean.

All in all, it's most likely a RD10 domain that's not even worth bother setting up money site on. Especially if user can't check history properly and there's a huge chance of domain being toxic.

Risk:reward ratio here is non existent.

Look out for spammy chinese links. Opt out if you see links like that.

To answer your question. As long as it is clean, you should have no issue in using the domain as a general niche e-commerce site, just focus on quality backlinks in your niche for the future.

Check before you use the expired domain, sometimes spammy backlinks are there.

Build the backlinks gradually from the relevant authority sites. In expired domain check the history of the backlinks & disavow the links if it looking like spammy.
