Hi guys,

Just trying to get my head around the external links impact on SEO and was hoping that someone here could shed some light. I have a site which has do-follow social media (brand page) links in the footer of every page. I started to wonder how this may impact the SERP of the money site...Having read about this online I see that Google claims it has not impact on the ranks..however I also read that this passes juice over to the linked pages and some sites have refrained from this practice for this specific reason.

So my primary questions are:

- Does this really affect the ranking of your site?
- Under my circumstance where linked pages are brand pages related to my money site - should I keep them as do-follow as that will theoretically add juice and rank those profiles too?
- Should I make them all no-follow to keep the juice in the juice machine?

thanks for you input BHW community!

On my blogs, I do all do-follow links, and I link like a madman! 1 post has 27 outbound do-follow links in the the content and it ranks at #1 for a medium competitive keyword on the strength of my domain alone. Outbound links seem to have no impact on my rankings.

I would mix do-follow with no-follows so it has a balance of everything, linking out to outbound pages that are reliable.
