Now more than ever I have reason to believe that youtube is either shadow banning, out right creating 24 hour bans, or reducing the amount of comments you can create during a single day.
Our channel has been growing at a moderate pace, about 10 subs a day. We have been using a method where we bot comments, and do manual comments. Before you all say that botting comments is bad, which we are very well aware of, we created a custom spintax that can spit about 30,000 unique comments. So unless youtubes algorithm can pick that apart then I believe we are safe.
Before we were easily able to do a combined total of around 500-600 comments per day. 150-300 from bot, 100 manual responses + 50-100 responses ish a day (responding to people who commented on our recent video) + 100 genuine comments, supporting creators in our niche. We have been doing this for months with no problems.
Recently while trying to pull the same method, youtube doesnt outright ban us, but any time we try to leave a comment, even on our OWN video, we simply get sent an error code: 503. When trying to respond to creators in the youtube studio app. Tested this on mobile, new browser, even deleted the cache, and reinstalled the app on my phone on data. It seems that this is account specific and they are hiding this under the disguise of an error code.
After waking up the next morning I was relieved to find out that my channel wasn't banned or deleted, (thus making me believe that it is a 24/12 hour ban) -and that we were able to comment again. I took a little break, did a few manual comments to boost engagement and then set a hard limit of 50 comments only on our bot. Did about 50-150 comments, and then responded to about 50-100 people who responded to the bot (to not look suspicious). Woke up again this morning to find out that youtube is not allowing us to respond to comments, create comments, and even post a pinned comment on our own video (not to mention today's video is performing significantly worse than usual). I had to create a community post letting our subscribers know that we wont be able to engage with them in the comments today due to youtube giving us errors.
I believe that these are new actions that youtube is taking specifically against those who bot their comments. I think this is a direct response to channels like the ComicalCanadian, Todd/Tyler, etc.. Who have abused the system so much, that people who use this as a tool and not so much as a spam tactic are now paying the price.
I will run some more tests and see if I can come up with some sort of magic number, will also try to see if this is more of a "points" related problem, since yesterday I subscribed to a few creators which is something I dont typically do. (points as in, 1 subscription is equal to 20 comments.. etc). This can also just be an effort for youtube to save server space as well, since I do see other non spam channels complaining about this issue as well..
I will unsubscribe from some channels, reset the cache on the youtube app and try to log in on LTE when I have some time and let you all know the results.
