Efficiency of Article Marketing vs Matt Cutts

Matt Cutts of the Google Webmaster Central Forum says that he is not personally a big fan of article marketing. Writing articles and having them point out to your sites! If you think it from a non-manipulative angle then any kinda backlinking stuff are all crapped out! So what the hell can we do?

In a previous thread a member pointed out that he had success by focusing only on article marketing techniques! If Google really does filter out all these article marketing sites then how the hell are we gonna get the seo backlinking advantage from them?

Need your valuable advice!

Read that as meaning = G do not like that = but have no way to STOP IT - so push the voice box out Mr Cutts saying G IS NOT FAN = SCAREMONGERING...

The bottom line is G can do f**k all about these methods and they KNOW IT!

Hmm.. nice but how about the videos of Distilled SEO where they speak like Gods of SEO. They mainly say focus on content. Write content in such a way that it automatically encourages users to do the marketing for you! I guess for big brands its quite easy! Even if they post a sneezing video they will be shared more than a million times :P but the bottomline is how do new websites, startups brace this google rampage??

I've been researching keywords a lot - that includes looking up the top 10, getting info..you guys know the deal. I am seeing nearly every local suburb or city + business keyword filled with sites that have like 90% article backlinks, contextual ones. Am I crazy for seeing this?

Hmm.. even I have noticed that and that's exactly the point of concern :) Hi5 to U Bro! ;) infact after every penguin or panda update the sites that come as replacements are crapped out sites! Is Google really working on cleaning the web? Or just churning their datacenters in search of some bad data sector?? lolz
 
Every once in a while a search engine mouthpiece comes out and says that the search engines really don't like this thing or that thing, and then hundreds of people come back saying "actually, in my experience, that's not the case at all, he's a liar". It's possible that they really are doing something to try to stop article marketing from doing well but in my experience that's not what I am seeing. My guess is that sometimes they just say what's going through their mind at the time.
 
this is Google and Matt Cutts trying to scare people away from the grey hat area. There is no good way for google to tell the validity of an article (meant to manipulate or not), so him saying that is just to get at the point of "dont over do it." From my experiences, article marketing still pays off, but not as much as it once did. You still have to work hard, and diversify your link types to get to the top
