My apologies if this has been covered.... I didn't read every post in this thread. What do you recommend to someone without great writing skills? Where could one find reviews to use on their site? ;)
 
You can either outsource them as he said, or you can copy and paste content from another review site. Personally, I think that IF I was a bad writer I would either ask a friend to write something for me and I might give him a few bucks (more when I started making money) or you could even try those community "to do" sites like um.. microworkers. I think that's the name of the site. For something like a 30 reviews (depending on the country you choose) and a 150 word "article" you can pay like $20-$60 and have someone else write it for you.
 
Is there a major copyright problem with pulling reviews from other sites, or is it just a matter or someone may ask me to pull it from my site?

Yes it will be very time consuming but hey, if it works to get this going, then it will be worth it.
 
This is my absolute favorite method of getting traffic and sales.

One blog I commented on about [product name review] continued to bring me traffic and sales for well over a year. So yes, it works... but you need to be motivated (or have the funds to outsource) to be successful with this in the long-term.

At the time I was promoting a MMO product and lost complete interest in it after a month. I have no doubt I could have taken the site which was making $50-$100/week (amazingly just from that 1 blog comment I made) up to $100/day if I stuck with this method and spammed the entire internet, LOL.

Don't be discouraged if you're trying this; it does work, sometimes not right away but it DOES produce results.
 
I'm still having a hell of a time picking niches. I keep second guessing the niches I pick. Frustrating
 
Thank you brother. I'm not a window shopper on this forum I am putting things into action and this is the strategy I should be concentrating on.

I first found and read through this thread yesterday and I have almost finished building my site. I plan on scaling it up a little more than a few products for one specific sub-niche because my offline business is run by employees and leaves me a lot of free time to reply to lots of alerts.

A couple questions please, if you have a minute to spare...I was just setting up my G alerts and I noticed several different options. From your experience should I use "only the best results" option or "everything" option? Assuming that my keywords are targeted, of course. My second question is, should I use "all results" or only "discussions" option? You mentioned that forums are the most effective and I wanted to know if zeroing in on the "discussions" option would be more efficient. I didn't want to do this without advice in the event that I cut off some of the profitable alerts.

Since you haven't stopped by yet I wanted to ask one more question that hopefully others can benefit from as well. I had mentioned going after several different related "sub niches" which are connected under their broad niche but are different enough that they need to be targeted with separate G alerts.

Will it look unnatural to mention/link to inside pages of the review site to target separate keywords/alerts? I don't know if people would know a website well enough to mention inside pages instead of just the main url. I imagine just mentioning the website and relying on people to find the category they are interested in would hurt conversions?

Basically I'm trying to scale this strategy up a little since I have the time to do so, but don't want to do it in a way that will f*ck up the "system."

My advice would be to test and see what works best. Setup as many alerts as possible when you start and then narrow it down as you go on and find what works best for your niche. In some niches blog comments could be better than forum posts, in others it's the opposite.

Deep-linking depends on your target market. If your posts look legitimate enough this shouldn't be a major issue. The whole idea is to look like a third party who is trying to help out... not just to post as much crap as possible and hope that people follow the link. People are far more inclined to click a link and stay on the site if they believe it's a "useful" recommendation than just spam.

hey, are we talking about wordpress.org or wordpress.com?...I feel like an idiot, I don't know if I'm just frustrated and can't think clearly or what...setting up this review blog/site/whatever is kicking my butt. I've googled it "setting up and building free wordpress reviews" and watched youtube videos"free wordpress review themes" and I still have no idea how to set the review site up and I know I sound retarded but I will deal with that if someone would please explain what wordpress everyone is using that is so easy people are setting them up in like 10mins. What themes are people using? I have a domain, I have my CPA offers, I'm just at a loss...Thanks in advance
 
I've read the thread, and i know meathead mentions some themes but I don't know if we are talking about wordpress.org or wordpress.com. I've never dealt with either of them. Are they the same thing? .org seems in depth and you got to download something and it seems like folks are building them very quickly, which .org seems like would take a long time. I've tried to search for the theme names on .com and the search bar doesn't come back with any results...just really frustrated. This is the first time I've tried any method on my own, and it's like if I could figure this one thing out I would be ok. Sorry to whine...

I believe they're talking about custom Wordpress installation on your own web hosting, since wordpress DOT com doesn't tolerate affiliate marketing (what this method essentially is).

Basically, you have two options here (provided you'd go for Wordpress):
1. Download the WP package from wordpress DOT org/download, and upload it via FTP on your host
2. Or the easier way — purchase shared web hosting from Hostgator, Bluehost or some other popular provider, and install WP with few clicks through Fantastico (or whatever easy-install software they might offer you)

I am pretty much a noob, but getting traffic by posting links in forums and blogs today is little harder than before? Because of the harsh link censorship. Or isn't it?

And that is exactly why your site must, must look legit. Not a push for one product. List all relevant products, do your research, list the pros and cons of them. You're doing no harm there.
