Think of a YouTube channel as your own tv channel. Which channel would you prefer watching?
YouTube isn't about making 1k$ per month. Don't target the ads revenue. Target the niche audience.
Ex- Say you create a video on "Top Books that helped create multi-millionaires"
Forget the ads for now, in the description you sell the viewers a free trial to a millionaire course or something related
Each sign-up gets you 10$
10000 views, 5% conversion gets you 500$
That's how you make money from YouTube.
There's a lot more ways but you need to know your audience first.

Any methods for video ranking in YT? I remember reading some agessss ago but not sure if they're still relevant / cant find them now
Youtube is more about getting your videos under suggestions then the keyword rankings

Trending topics. A lot of people use robot voices to make trending videos on celebrities and news. And they make good money. I see why youtube has decided to put an end to robot voice monetisation, because its easy money for these mass uploaders compared to genuine people who actually put efforts and time in making videos and they barely get views.
So yes if you re already monetised, look into the former, but if you have not been monetised, dont do it because youtube will no longer monetise robot voices and people who copy others' work (pictures, contents, etc).
Also robot voices videos I mentioned will soon be demonetised by youtube. when? nobody knows but they will at some point.
Top 10 videos are good too.
Whatever is trending, review it or write something /talk about it.
How to/ Tutorials.
Health/Relationship etc.
Your own personal VLOG.
So much more.

Better is use social blade and find channels with most subs or views or revenues. One thing it should be long , lots of ads but should be engaging. Keep at least 100+ videos upload one once a week this will be a good thing to do.
