Monetisation via Youtube needs at least 1k subscribers. If you're sufficiently entertaining or informative, you could go for memberships. Affiliate marketing or traffic routing in general still works there if your YT is just a means to funnel to your actual platform.
 
I'm also having trouble turning on the monetization feature. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work.
 
To monetize with yt partner program you need 1k subs and 4k watch hours but there are several ways aside yt partner program. You can make money with exclusive content, sponsorships and best affiliate marketing.
 
I have tried many short videos, should I link to Google ads account?

It used to be easy to earn money on youtube with non monetized channels by uploading copyrighted content and using content id(music released through any distro) into that video, but gradually all the distro companies started to get warnings from youtube or since uploading your content id claim (music) into another claimed video(movie) have been increasing the number of disputes and disputed revenue between those two copyright owners, earning with content id came to an end. all the distros started blocking such payments and even banned accounts.

BUT THERE ARE FEW PRIVATE COMPANIES THAT ARE STILL TAKING RISKS FOR $$ earning big, I KNOW ONE OF SUCH COMPANIES CLOSELY THAT NEVER BLOCKS ANY PAYMENT OF ANY TYPE OF COPYRIGHTED WORK OR CPM WORK, NEVER!!!!

Make a channel in crypto niche and grow it. Charge for sponsored posts and promotions in crypto. You can retire as millionaire in few years.

subs don’t pay bills, views and funnels do. run faceless vids, rank for mid keywords, drop cpa or affiliate links below. info vids, tutorials, docu style all work.
 
Join affiliate programs like Amazon Associates or niche brands and put there aff links into your video description
