Hello Bloggers,

DuckDuckGo will soon be offered as an option for default search engine on Android devices across the EU.

Will this affect AdSense publishers? Because I doubt that CPC and CTR will be low when you get traffic from other search engines.

What are the changes that we can expect in future in terms of SEO?

Thanks.

It will not be the default search engine.

It will be offered as an option if the user chooses to go in and change the default.

Google owns android so Google will always be the default.

Yes. I do think that this change will affect the organic traffic stats for webmasters.

Finally, It most likely depends on whether the user derives a significant portion of traffic from mobile devices. However, most people that I know don't care about privacy or data and won't use DDG.

oh sh*t, maybe my Discover traffic from mobile will be affected because of this :( sad

They still got where to improve. Far from what google do.

The better question: who use the search bar on their Android smart device and not a browser (Chrome) to search? Whenever i get a new Android device, my first thing is binning the search bar from the home screen. lol

It will have some effect on Google for sure, especially that DDG will be the first option, but they bought the place, so Google even made money out of a sanction against them. :) It won't have an imminent effect, because it will be only offered, when you set up a new device. So on those devices, which are already set up, you need to know about this option and you need to seek it out yourself, how to switch, which not too many users will do.

People tend to think, Google is evil and always rooting for the underdogs. Duck Duck Go is not exactly a saint either: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/duck-duck-go-is-an-affiliate-site.1192588/
