Drop domains?

Hello,

I just bought a domain what it seems to be a drop one, the domain was from 2003 but it seems that it was re-register in 2011 so, its a drop one, I want to know if that means that it loses SEO value on the age domain or what does a drop domain mean exactly and how affects on SEO?

Also if I buy a domain from backorder is that means that domain gets re-register and you buy a drop domain?

Codeman, I have some slight problems to understand what you want.

In any case there are four things you can check to understand the history of the domain:
1. Backlinks on ahrefs.c0m - quality, quantity
2. history on domaintools.c0m
3. investigate old content at archive.0rg
4. indexed? search for site:domain.tld

If you have no indication of a former SEO presence, like a blog network with thousands of spammy links, you are fine.

Yeah man I get you there is so miss information about domains, that is hard to understand every single thing about it, about the four things you mention on the domain I bought:

1) About backlinks it does not have to many about 22 backlinks

2) Reverse Whois: "Domains By Proxy, LLC" owns about49 other domains
Registrar History: 2 registrars with 1 drop.
NS History: 7 changes on 5 unique name servers over 11 years.
IP History: 24 changes on 15 unique IP addresses over 9 years.
Whois History: 67 records have been archived since 2003-07-26.
Reverse IP: 44,780 other sites hosted on this server.

Domain Name: MYDOMAIN.COM
Created on: 15-Mar-12
Expires on: 15-Mar-14
Last Updated on: 26-Apr-13

3) Domain was first created in 1999

4) Yes it is index on Google

5) There is no indication of spammy links since there are only 22 backlinks but, is there a way to be sure.


So. what you think of the domain I bought is it fine?

I don't see any problem with your domain, seems fine. If there should be any problem at all , are spammy links, but if u checked them, and they are natural, you are good to go.

Thanks for the help, just 2 questions so its clear for me:

1) As you can see on point 2 in Registrant History this domain has been drop once and I have seen even domains that were drop 2 or 3 times, what that means exactly? Is this domain from 1999 or not at all? People say that domain loses all Domain Age History and it is not that effective even this domain is EMD or has keyword on domain.

2) To check for spamy links is by ahref or majestic SEO right? Just go through them, but, how can I recognize spammy links? Because the links I saw by majesticseo or ahref seem normal but, just want to make sure.
