Don't be dumb like me when cancelling hostwinds services

For any service cancellation, not just Hostwinds, gotta follow through to the end and make sure it's done.

Just assuming a cancellation request meant the actual cancellation was not a good idea.

Thanks for sharing this specific case, but this can be extrapolated to just about any online service cancellation. Always make sure the deal is undone fully before assuming anything.

When people buy service near the end of the month you should not be charging them on the 31st...

They still do this just noticed. Bought a plan the 22th of december. They charged me 2 days ago again. Around 2 weeks after. And trust me within 2 weeks they do it again. They have no damn morals what so ever. What a shitty way to run a business. I've been using them since 2013 maybe even 12 the first time. When they just opened their doors.

Charging you every few weeks? what the hell.

I've used them on and off since 2012 and looking through my old emails from years ago, I found it interesting that the last time I ordered service through them was in 2015 and back then they would actually define the due dates in my account information email after I ordered something. If I bought service on 9/22 then it'd tell me it was due on 10/22. After coming back to them in 2018 they leave out due dates in their account information emails. This is what got me confused because they never use to bill like this. When I ordered something back then it was actually monthly. Their billing schedule actually made sense.

On top of that I can also see I got invoice emails from them back then letting me know my payment is due. Never did I go into my account settings and turn off invoices..that would make no sense. They flipped it off at some point.

Looks like they definitely changed over the years and this is exactly why the entire thing caught me off guard.

While I have never used them so I cant say to what or what they did not do. I can just say by default most host would want the invoices to be sent set to Yes or turned on. Makes no sense to sell something and then say O let me turn this option off. That would cause more issues I would think for the host if that was the case.

Maybe it was just a glitch or something. From what I have seen they are usually pretty good at getting clients taken care of so not sure why all the issues for you

No I don't think there was intent to it, just something on their end. Maybe they updated their system at some point and it messed with it, who knows.

They're a good host for people to go to for sure, and I have zero issues with their service. I have had a good experience with them in the past. Just not a fan of their refund policy.

I just always cancel by paypal. Lot easier

I hate the service when they only take credit cards like long tail pro. You have to check when you dont get charge

Shit that sucks that's why i never enter my card on any website that's one of the few cases gaypal comes handy, but at least you learnt a lesson that could have been avoided had you been more thorough when cancelling the service but still thanks for sharing.
