Personally, I wouldn't mind keeping it, and I actually purchased domain names in the past that looked similar to domains that were already established at that time, and I didn't do this out of spite or with some secret marketing gimmick in mind, I did it simply because I liked those domain names. Yeah, it's not an ideal situation but given how all good .coms have been being hodl'd on for the last 20 years I think you should keep such a good name (because it is a good one IMO).

But again, you are the one who knows how pissed off you are about this situation so it's your call, but I don't think you can sell it for more than $20 anyway, so you might as well keep it

Personally I also think that this is a good domain name. Do not let it go because you have given it plenty of thought and have some good plan on how to go ahead with it by building a good website. The guy who has bought the sans -'s' version has purely done it for reselling purpose. So do not worry about him being able to rebrand or outplay you in promotion. He will not do it because he simply can't do it.

Feel confident about your domain name bro. It is a good one and stick to your original plan to build a solid business out of this domain. Forget about that guy.
