Yeah theme is do some job for ranking. It helps to ranking site in some ways.

It is good to use SEO optimized and fast theme to build site.

Unless you're doing on-page seo yourself, the theme can impact your ranking. If you won't do on page seo yourself make sure the theme you choose does.

Wordpress Speed, quality, and overall user experience can effect your ranking factor. A Poor and slow theme can effect your overall SEO Ranking

Recently I hear someone get drop after change the theme also one of his sites are won't improve for theme (He think so). But I think Theme can be factor of ranking if it's lazy load and speed is not good enough. So try to use light theme for blogging.

Astra is not the best option.

It's neither the most powerful nor the most lightweight, nor the most convenient.

It touches everything a little bit but dominates at nothing. It updates a lot with a lot of theme-breaking changes.

It's not a good theme for long-term and serious projects.

Astra does have its little advantages though, but it should not be your theme choice if you have other options.

I have a site in Astra for years and it's been a headache.

I guess yeah, Technical Seo Optimisation is important and your website speed factor plays a vital role for Seo and ranking.
If you want o just write some blogs and looking for theme i will suggest groovy - modern & lightweight blog for WordPress.
I am using this theme currently and it's fast and also this theme looks simple and attractive.

PS: i am not a SEO Specialist but I am running some website part time and I am ranking them, So i have some experience in that.

Not That Much But Yes Speed And interface will of-course. It's Like if you have good website speed good interface and UI it will engage users which lead them to return back to your site
simple Short Answer is it will not effect ranking but it help you to engage more people if you have good Theme or Website Hosting

Possibly yes,

Theme considered a lot of applications which is the one-factor speed of the website

If page speed is slow, then automatically on-page SEO score would be affected

This will impact the rank definitely

If it affects site speed, code quality, mobile responsiveness, and schema markup, then yes it does.

But you shouldn't worry, I've tried both Jannah and GeneratePress before and they are both SEO-friendly themes with good features.

Well, since the theme is basicly the rendered HTML output, it might impact technical SEO. But since most professional themes should hold up on best practices, I don't see a problem there. We might talk about some minor differences here and there, but nothing that should impact rankings.
On a performance level a normal theme wouldn't change much, plugins and widgets that sometimes come with themes can, though. They don't only interpret the vanilla WP Frontend Data, but doing their own stuff, quering the db, etc. WP's bottleneck is usally the DB and bad queries will slow the whole site down.
